First check that you have the right kind of code: PlayStation Store vouchers are 12 digits, while 10-digit discount codes are entered during checkout. Then check the voucher’s region, expiry and restrictions, retail activation, and whether it has already been redeemed. If those checks do not explain the problem, check PlayStation Network status and follow the error-code guidance below.
1. Check the code type and enter it carefully
A PlayStation Store voucher code has 12 digits. A 10-digit discount code is different: enter it during checkout, not in the standard voucher field. Follow PlayStation’s voucher redemption instructions for the correct redemption route.

Carefully re-enter the digits and check for mistakes. If the code is on a scratch-off card, reveal it fully without damaging the printed characters. If the code is unclear or damaged, avoid repeated guesses; contact the retailer or PlayStation Support as appropriate.
2. Make sure the voucher and account regions match
The voucher must be for the same PlayStation Store country or region as the account. A physical card may show its region on a flag or other printed marking. PlayStation says an account’s region cannot be changed after setup, so switching consoles or choosing a different redemption screen will not resolve a region mismatch.

3. Check expiry, availability and restrictions
Look for an expiration date and any age, use, or availability restrictions printed with the voucher. Error E-82000133 means the voucher has expired or is not yet available. PlayStation advises checking that the code was entered correctly and reviewing availability and restrictions on its E-82000133 support page.

Some codes are valid only under specific conditions. For example, PlayStation’s Australian voucher guidance says some subscription vouchers require valid credit or debit card details, and age-restricted content may have age restrictions. Check the guidance for your region and voucher type rather than assuming every code follows the same rules.

4. Check retail activation and redemption history
Confirm the retailer activated the voucher
Some vouchers bought in retail stores need point-of-sale activation. If you get a code printed on a receipt, or suspect a card was not activated, contact the retailer with your receipt and ask them to check the purchase and activation. PlayStation’s voucher troubleshooting guidance covers activation and receipt-printed codes.
Find out whether it was already used
Vouchers are single-use. Check PlayStation transaction details to see whether the code was redeemed, and check the accounts associated with the console if more than one person uses it. A voucher redeemed to another account cannot have its funds or content transferred to yours; do not assume a completed redemption can be reversed.

5. Check account eligibility
Some redemption limits depend on account type and voucher. PlayStation’s Australian guidance says wallet top-up vouchers cannot be redeemed on child accounts. That is not a universal rule for every voucher in every region, so check the relevant support page for the account’s region and the code’s purpose.
6. Use the error code to narrow down the cause
- WS-45480-1: Country or region mismatch. Check the account region against the voucher, then review entry, expiry, and restrictions. PlayStation’s WS-45480-1 guidance.
- E-82000133: The voucher is expired or not yet available. Check entry, availability, and restrictions. PlayStation’s E-82000133 guidance.
- WS-45479-9 or WS-45487-8: PlayStation’s error-code index associates these with a voucher that has already been redeemed. Check transaction details and other accounts linked to the console. PlayStation’s error-code index.
- WC-40371-5: The voucher is not valid. Check that you entered all 12 digits, and verify validity, region, and any account restrictions. PlayStation’s page also notes the child-account limitation for wallet top-up codes. PlayStation’s voucher troubleshooting page.
Error messages and support pages can change. Match the exact code shown on screen with the current PlayStation support guidance for your region.

7. Refresh the account or contact support
If the status page shows no network problem and you have checked the likely code and account issues, sign out of PlayStation and sign back in to refresh the account. If the code still fails, contact the retailer for a receipt-printed code or suspected activation problem. For a damaged voucher or another persistent failure, contact PlayStation Support.
Keep the voucher and proof of purchase. Be ready to give the purchase date and retailer; PlayStation may ask for proof of purchase and images of both sides of the voucher.
