Try Logitech’s reversible checks first
A double-click symptom alone does not establish whether the cause is a setting, connection, contamination, or a worn switch. Work through these checks before considering disassembly:

- Test the mouse on another computer. If the symptom changes, that points toward a computer-specific setting or software issue, but does not by itself identify the cause.
- Clean around the affected button with air. Logitech recommends cleaning as a troubleshooting step. This is not a confirmed switch repair.
- Connect directly to another USB port. Bypass any USB hub while testing.
- Adjust the operating system’s double-click sensitivity. The setting and its location vary by operating system; use its mouse settings rather than assuming one universal menu path.
Retest after each change so you can tell whether that check affected the symptom. If the problem persists across computers and ports after cleaning and settings checks, a hardware fault becomes more plausible, but the symptom still is not a definitive diagnosis.

Find your purchase date and check the warranty terms that apply in your country before removing the mouse’s feet or opening its shell. Logitech’s US support listing for the G502 HERO specifies a two-year limited hardware warranty; that duration should not be assumed for other regions or G502 variants. Logitech’s general warranty terms exclude damage resulting from unauthorized repair, modification, or disassembly, and local terms and consumer rights can differ.

If the mouse may still be covered, contact Logitech support before attempting a teardown. For an out-of-warranty G502 HERO, Logitech announced support through its Repair Hub with iFixit, including original manufacturer parts. That announcement does not establish that a particular part is currently available; check the hub for your exact model and current stock.
Identify your G502 generation before choosing a repair
“G502” covers versions with different switch designs. Logitech distinguishes traditional mechanical switches in the G502 HERO and original G502 LIGHTSPEED from the LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches in G502 X models. A guide for one generation should not be treated as an instruction for another: verify the exact model and that the parts and procedure match it.

What “no-solder repair” can—and cannot—mean
The detailed G502 LIGHTSPEED switch-replacement procedure documents desoldering the original Omron switches and installing replacements. It is therefore not a solder-free switch replacement. A Phillips #0 screwdriver and plastic opening tools can help with opening or inspecting a G502 HERO, but those tools do not remove the soldering required by the documented LIGHTSPEED switch replacement.

There is no established evidence here that this workaround is reliable, safe across G502 variants, or durable, so it should not be presented as a repair that works. If you choose to open a mouse despite those uncertainties, first confirm the exact model and understand the warranty and damage risks; opening tools alone do not make the switch replacement solder-free.
