Search for the exact LEGO set name or number, then check the product page on LEGO.com. The status under the price distinguishes a set that might return from one LEGO says it will not restock. If LEGO.com no longer lists the set, LEGO recommends BrickLink as a place to look—but that recommendation does not guarantee a listing or available stock.
Find the exact LEGO Nintendo set
Start with the set number or the full set name. Nintendo-themed LEGO products can have similar names, and an exact identifier makes it easier to distinguish the set you want from a related product. If you do not know the number, look for it on an accessible LEGO product page or in a reliable set catalog before searching resale listings.

Check what LEGO.com says about availability
Open the set’s product page on LEGO.com and read the status shown under the price. LEGO’s availability guide describes these labels as statements about LEGO.com’s assortment and stock:
| Status | What LEGO says it means |
|---|---|
| Available now | Currently available to order. |
| Temporarily out of stock | Not currently orderable; LEGO expects more stock in the future. |
| Sold out | LEGO may receive more stock, but there is no confirmed date. |
| Retiring soon | LEGO says the set will be retired very soon. |
| Retired Product | The set is no longer in LEGO’s current assortment, and LEGO says it will not receive more stock. |
“Sold out” is not the same as “Retired Product”: the former leaves open the possibility of a restock, while the latter indicates LEGO does not plan to restock it. These labels describe LEGO’s own availability, not whether another retailer or a secondhand seller has the set. Status and inventory can change, so check the product page when you are ready to make a decision.

Look for retired sets beyond LEGO.com
If you cannot find the set on LEGO.com, LEGO’s retired-set help page recommends checking BrickLink, calling it “often the best place to find retired sets and connect with other fans.” This is a suggested destination for discovery, not confirmation that a particular set is listed or in stock.
- Search BrickLink using the exact set number or name rather than relying only on a broad Nintendo theme search.
- Check that the listing identifies the same set and edition you are looking for.
- Read the condition and contents description. Check whether the parts and minifigures are complete and whether the box or instructions are included if those matter to you.
- Review the seller’s terms and reputation, shipping, applicable taxes, and total cost before deciding.
Use inventory tools as a check, not a guarantee
BrickLink’s Inventory Comparison Tool can compare a set inventory with LEGO data or another BrickLink inventory. BrickLink warns that “We do not currently have complete data for all items” and specifically notes that its data is incomplete for some categories, including most sets older than 1996. Treat a comparison as a useful way to spot possible missing pieces, not proof that every listing is complete.

Compare listings on the details that affect value
When you find more than one listing, compare them on the same terms. A sealed set and a used, incomplete set are not equivalent offers, even if they share the same set number.
