To improve your chances of finding a rare Mythic Sprite in Fortnite Override, use the Cheat Code Locator to reach more Cheat Code panels, choose Legendary codes when available (Epic codes are the next-best option), and extract a worthwhile find promptly. Epic says Legendary codes guarantee a variant Sprite with an emphasis on higher-rarity ones, but it does not publish Mythic drop percentages—so no route guarantees a fast Mythic.
How to hunt Mythic Sprites efficiently
- Equip and activate the Cheat Code Locator. Put the Locator in your Gizmo slot, remain outside the Storm, and activate it to mark a nearby Cheat Code panel. Follow the marker and interact with the panel to enter its directional sequence and free a Sprite. The Locator helps you find more opportunities; it does not guarantee a Legendary code or a Mythic Sprite. Epic’s season-launch notes describe the panel mechanic and Locator.
- Check the code’s rarity before spending time on it. If you find a Legendary (orange) code, prioritize it for a high-rarity variant. Epic (purple) is a sensible next choice; Rare (blue) codes can still produce any rarity, but Epic says Epic codes have better variant and higher-rarity chances. Epic’s v42.20 update notes state: “Legendary (orange) Cheat Codes are guaranteed to drop a variant Sprite, with an emphasis on higher-rarity ones.” The guarantee is for a variant, not specifically a Mythic.
- Use a dense route if you want more panel attempts. AllThings. How’s August 26, 2026 guide lists these possible Cheat Code spawn counts. They are reported spawn counts, not odds or guaranteed live spawns; map changes may make them stale. Check the guide’s map and current details before relying on a route.
| Location | Possible spawn count reported by AllThings. How |
|---|---|
| Heatwave Harbor | 75 |
| Cluster Coast | 67 |
| Shaken Sanctuary | 42 |
| The Battlewoods | 36 |
| Building east of Blinky Island | 34, plus two more to the south |
| Chopped Shop | 33 |
| Stone Sanctum | 32 |
Which code rarity should you choose?
Epic’s v42.20 notes say that “Sprites of any rarity can now be found in any Rare (blue) or Epic (purple) Cheat Code.” The same update says Epic codes have significantly increased chances of variants and higher-rarity Sprites, and that chances of finding a variant you do not already own improve the longer you go without finding a new Sprite. These are qualitative odds improvements; the notes do not give percentages or a Mythic-specific rate.

- Legendary (orange): best-supported choice when seeking a high-rarity variant; the official guarantee is a variant, with emphasis on higher rarity, not a specific Mythic.
- Epic (purple): prioritize over Rare when both are available, because Epic reports better chances for variants and higher-rarity Sprites.
- Rare (blue): still worth trying when it is convenient; any rarity can appear, but a Mythic is not guaranteed.
Where else can current Sprites appear?
Fortnitemares 2026 coverage reports that four additional Sprites brought the roster to 25, with two more scheduled for October 15. It also reports that the Spooky Dash Mythic can come from Pumpkin Chests, ordinary chests, and Cheat Codes. These are time-sensitive guide reports, not a permanent spawn rule; check Dexerto’s updated Sprite guide and the live game for event availability.
Extract the Sprite before the match ends
Finding and carrying a Sprite during a match does not yet add it to your permanent collection. Take it to a marked Extraction Site or use the Portable Extractor Gizmo to bank it. A carried Sprite is at risk if you are eliminated before extraction, so secure a valuable find rather than continuing the hunt with it exposed. Dexerto’s guide describes extraction options; the Epic season-launch notes cover the mode’s Gizmo system.

What to expect from a Mythic hunt
There is no official numeric Mythic drop rate in Epic’s reviewed notes. The Locator and higher-rarity codes improve your opportunities, while dense routes can help you reach more possible panels; none guarantees a Mythic in a set number of tries. If you are targeting a particular Mythic, AllThings. How also describes player trading as an alternative, but that is guide advice rather than a mechanic independently confirmed by Epic’s cited notes.
