Choose a design and open its own size chart
Use the chart attached to the shirt you plan to buy, not a chart from another brand or product line. Retailers can use different measurements and size labels. For example, the Target sibling T-shirt listing directs shoppers to its own chart. If you are browsing matching sibling T-shirts, check that listing’s chart rather than assuming a size label will mean the same thing elsewhere.

Measure every child separately
For chest, wrap a soft tape around the fullest part and keep it horizontal. The Children’s Place and Nike both give chest-measurement guidance in their sizing resources. Record height too if the chosen chart uses it. Measure each sibling rather than estimating from age or another child’s clothing label.

Check what the chart measures
A body-measurement chart describes the person; a garment-measurement chart describes the shirt. Nike identifies its chart as body measurements, while Disney Store UK gives T-shirt chest and length dimensions. Do not compare a child’s body circumference directly with a shirt’s flat width or garment circumference unless the seller explains how to interpret those figures.

Apply the seller’s guidance if a child is between sizes
Follow the specific shirt or brand’s fit advice. Nike says to choose the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit when a measurement falls between sizes. Its boys’ guidance says to use chest when chest and waist suggest different sizes for a top. Those are Nike-specific recommendations, not a universal rule; another seller may advise differently.

Confirm the design comes in all the needed sizes
Size ranges vary by listing. The cited Hybrid Apparel sibling tee lists sizes 2T through YXL, while a family-matching listing offers baby-and-kids sizing. Check the live listing to make sure every child can get the same design before planning a coordinated order.

Review the exact listing’s return terms
Check the current seller, fulfillment details, and return policy before checkout. The cited Target listing states a 30-day return period, but that detail applies to that listing and may change; verify its current terms rather than assuming another seller offers the same window.

How to compare shirt options
When comparing listings, use the measurements and terms that actually matter for each child rather than treating a shared label such as “small” or “large” as interchangeable.

Measurements can reduce guesswork, but a chart is not a guarantee of fit. Use the chart for the exact shirt and check the listing for current sizing and availability.
