1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo find a qualified arborist, search the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) directory by location and verify that the person’s current credential and experience fit your job. For tree education, check your state or county Cooperative Extension office, ISA chapter, and local forestry and nature organizations. These are national U.S. discovery routes; without a city or state, specific local classes, dates, fees, and providers cannot be confirmed.
Find an arborist through ISA, then verify the fit
Use the ISA credential directory to search by place and review listed credentials and skills. Treat it as a way to find and check credential holders, not as a guarantee of service quality or results.

Before hiring, confirm the person’s credential is current and ask about experience with the specific work and trees involved. Request written recommendations and estimates, and check that the company has appropriate insurance. A credential helps you assess professional qualifications; it does not replace evaluating the proposed work, costs, and provider.
Choose a credential that matches the work
ISA offers multiple credentials, and the broad Certified Arborist designation is not the only option. Specialized credentials address areas such as urban forest management, climbing, utility work, and advanced mastery. Use ISA’s current credential descriptions to compare scope and requirements rather than assuming one label covers every task.
#1 Best Overall
For community-forestry planning, the ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional credential covers communication, policy and planning, administration, risk management, and arboricultural practices. The credential’s official description can help you decide whether it aligns with a planning need; for a specific tree-care job, consider the work required and the provider’s relevant practical experience.
Find tree education through Extension and local organizations
Start with Cooperative Extension
The Extension Master Gardener program directory links to state programs. Most are delivered through a land-grant university and Cooperative Extension, training volunteers to share university- and research-based horticultural information. A Master Gardener program is not necessarily arboriculture training, so ask the state or county Extension office directly whether it offers tree-specific talks, workshops, demonstration projects, or referrals.

Check regional and municipal calendars
ISA chapters and associate organizations are another route to regional programs and locally relevant professional resources. Find your region through ISA’s chapter directory and check the chapter’s current calendar.

Also look at event calendars for city forestry or urban forestry departments, botanical gardens, arboreta, community colleges, and state forestry agencies. They may announce tree walks, public talks, or training, but availability depends on the locality and schedule. Confirm details with the organizer rather than assuming a program is currently offered.

Separate public learning from professional credential preparation
If you want to learn about trees as a resident or volunteer, a public workshop or Extension event may be appropriate. If you are preparing for professional arboriculture work, distinguish a course or study resource from the credential itself: ISA says credentialing is administered independently of education and training programs.
ISA provides credential information and preparation resources, including recommended study materials and online learning. Do not assume a particular course or book is mandatory; check the current application guide, handbook, and exam outline for the credential you are pursuing. Completing a preparation course or using study materials does not itself confer an ISA credential.

Compare options against your goal
When comparing an event, course, volunteer program, or arborist, first identify whether you need public education, career preparation, or professional tree-care services. Then compare the factors that matter for that purpose:

- Experience and place: For paid tree work, ask about relevant practical experience and familiarity with local species and climate.
- Format and schedule: Check whether the event or training format and dates work for you.
- Cost: Confirm fees directly with the provider; they vary by program and location.
- Purpose: A volunteer gardening program, one-time public workshop, professional training course, and credential are different things.
Because no city or state is specified here, no particular local course, schedule, fee, or arborist can be verified. Use the directories and calendars above, then confirm current details with the relevant state, county, chapter, or provider.
