Turn on Fortnite’s visual sound indicator
Epic says Visualize Sound Effects displays a radial indicator for some sounds. It is a useful map-free aid if you do not want to rely only on hearing, but it does not guarantee that every chest will be marked in every situation.

- In the lobby, open the display-name menu and select Settings.
- Open the Audio tab.
- Turn on Visualize Sound Effects, then select Apply.
Epic’s instructions are at How do I turn on Visualize Sound Effects in Fortnite? The setting provides a visual cue for supported sounds; treat it as a way to narrow your search, not as a complete chest locator.
Follow the cue and search nearby spaces
When you see an indicator or hear a chest cue, move in that direction and check the nearby structure methodically. Search interiors and covered spaces across floors, including basements, rooftops, areas behind walls, and spaces beneath ramps. These are practical places to check, not guaranteed spawn positions.

Do not sweep an entire point of interest at random. Use the cue to narrow the area, inspect the closest likely spaces, and move on if you find nothing. A remembered spot can be empty in a particular match.
Recognize the current-season Sprite Chest cues
Guides for Sprite Chests in Chapter 7 Season 3 describe a nearby audio cue, a blue glow, and a pink crystal on the lid. Those descriptions apply to that chest type and season; they should not be assumed to identify every Fortnite chest.

The same guides describe Sprite Chests as appearing randomly among potential points, rather than activating at every remembered location in every match. Chest routes and exact locations are season-sensitive, so use the cues and search method rather than treating an old location list as a guarantee.

A headset is optional, not a prerequisite. Start with the free in-game visual setting and use sound as an additional clue when useful.

Nintendo Switch 2: a known visual-cue issue
Epic has reported that visual radial indicators and clues such as chests may not appear on Nintendo Switch 2 even when the setting is enabled. Epic says the issue is being addressed, but its support page does not give a fix date. Check Epic’s Nintendo Switch 2 support note for the current status.
