Samsung’s built-in time-lapse feature is called Hyperlapse. On supported Galaxy devices, open Camera > More > Hyperlapse, choose any available speed or frame-rate option, then tap Record. The menu and controls vary by model and software version, so the steps may look different on your device.
Where to find Samsung’s time-lapse mode
Open the Camera app and tap More. If your device supports the feature, choose Hyperlapse. Samsung’s Galaxy tablet instructions and its camera-mode guide describe this route, though the layout can differ across devices and software versions.

Hyperlapse records activity as fast-motion video. On supported devices, its frame rate may adjust according to changes in the scene; Samsung describes this behavior for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE. That model-specific description is not a compatibility list for every Galaxy phone or tablet.
How to record a Hyperlapse
- Open Camera and choose More > Hyperlapse. If your device arranges camera modes differently, look for Hyperlapse in the available mode list.
- Set the available controls. Depending on the device, you may see Auto or selectable frame rates, along with options such as recording time or flash. Auto adjusts the frame rate to scene changes on the devices covered by Samsung’s guide; manual choices and other controls are model-dependent.
- Position the phone and tap Record. For a static scene, keeping the phone steady is a practical way to make the resulting clip more coherent. A tripod or mount is optional, not a stated Hyperlapse requirement. Samsung’s tripod guidance concerns steadiness in Night mode, so applying that advice to Hyperlapse is a practical inference.
- Tap Stop when you are done. The recording is saved as fast-motion footage; the result depends on the scene and the options available on your device.
Why Hyperlapse may not appear
First check Camera > More, then look for a mode-editing or customization screen if your Camera app provides one. Samsung’s Hyperlapse support instructions say that if the mode is absent from both the mode list and its editing list, the device does not support it. That page was last updated on August 30, 2023, and its navigation reflects particular Android versions, so follow the current menus on your device.

Camera modes vary by model. An older Samsung UK camera-mode article names legacy Galaxy S and Note devices, but that historical list should not be treated as a complete or current compatibility chart. Check the manual or support page for your exact model before concluding that a menu should be present.
Which Hyperlapse controls might your device have?
Some Galaxy devices offer Auto, which adjusts the frame rate to scene changes or activity; others may expose selectable speeds or additional modes. The exact choices depend on the model and software.

For example, the Galaxy Z Fold6 manual documents Night Hyperlapse options at 15x or 45x and a 300x star-trails option. Those figures describe options in that model’s documentation only; they are not universal Galaxy settings.
