On desktop Chrome, open More > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark manager to find and edit saved links. Chrome lets you edit bookmarks individually and has a bulk-edit control in the navigation panel, but Google’s help does not document a built-in global find-and-replace for bookmark URLs. For many links, a Chrome Web Store extension advertises batch replacement; review its matches and make a recoverable copy of your bookmarks before applying changes.
Find the bookmark you want to change
In desktop Chrome, select More > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark manager. Google also documents a way to search bookmarks from the address bar: enter @bookmarks, then type keywords. These options help locate saved links, but searching for a bookmark is different from replacing text across all bookmark URLs. Google Chrome Help

Edit one bookmark in Chrome
- Open the Bookmark Manager using More > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark manager.
- Find the bookmark, open its More menu, and choose Edit. Google documents the Edit action; its placement can vary between the Bookmark Manager and navigation panel.
- Change the URL field to the intended full address, then save. Check the edited URL and open it to confirm that it reaches the site you expect. Google Chrome Help
Can Chrome replace HTTP with HTTPS in bulk?
Google’s help documents a bulk-edit control in the navigation panel, but it does not describe a global find-and-replace operation for all bookmark URLs. If you need to transform many links at once, a third-party extension is an optional route—not a native Chrome feature.

The Chrome Web Store listing for Bookmark URL Batch Replacer advertises batch processing, replacement using plain strings or regular expressions, and a preview before changes. The listing also says processing is local and does not require an internet connection. These are the publisher’s claims; they have not been independently verified here.

Review access and trust before installing
Chrome’s bookmarks API allows extensions to manipulate bookmark data. That explains why a bookmark-editing extension may need access to bookmarks, but the API documentation is not a safety audit of any particular extension. Review the extension’s listing and requested permissions before installing it. Chrome for Developers: Bookmarks API

Replacing an http:// prefix with https:// is appropriate only when the destination supports HTTPS at that address. A changed URL can fail or lead somewhere different; neither the Chrome Help page nor the extension listing verifies that every destination works with HTTPS.
- Inspect the proposed matches or preview, if using a batch tool. Confirm that the replacement would not alter URLs you intend to leave unchanged.
- Keep a recoverable copy of your bookmarks before a large batch edit. The cited Chrome Help does not establish a rollback guarantee for batch replacements.
- After applying changes, check several edited bookmarks, including the destination URL and whether the page loads securely.
Choose the approach that fits the job
| Approach | Scope and control | Review and trust |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome Bookmark Manager | Google documents editing an individual bookmark and a bulk-edit control; its help does not document global URL find-and-replace. | Use Chrome’s built-in interface to enter and inspect URLs manually. |
| Bookmark URL Batch Replacer extension | The Chrome Web Store listing advertises batch replacement with plain strings or regular expressions. | The listing advertises a preview and local processing. These claims are not an independent test; review the extension’s permissions before use. |
The documented menus and extension workflow here are for desktop Chrome. The cited sources do not establish equivalent steps for Chrome on Android or iOS.
