Google Play keeps an uninstalled-app list under Not installed, while Galaxy Store keeps an app history under My apps. The right path depends on what happened to the app and which account you used.
First determine why the app is missing
A missing icon does not always mean an app was deleted. Samsung distinguishes between an app that is hidden, disabled, or uninstalled, and each needs a different fix.

- Hidden: The app remains on the phone, but its icon is removed from the Home and Apps screens. Unhide it rather than reinstalling it.
- Disabled: The app is still on the device but turned off. Re-enable it; Google Play may show an Enable action instead of Install.
- Uninstalled: The app is no longer installed. Look it up in the store and account used to obtain it.
Samsung notes that menu names and available settings can vary by Galaxy model, software version, and wireless service provider. The paths below reflect Samsung’s current US support guidance and Google’s current Android Help guidance.
Restore an app from Google Play
- Open the Play Store on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Tap Manage apps & device, then Manage.
- Change the filter from Installed to Not installed. If the app is not listed, Google says to tap This device at the top, then choose Not installed.
- Find the app and tap Install. If it was disabled rather than removed, choose Enable if that option appears.
Google Play’s list is tied to the Google Account used to get the app. If an app you previously purchased is missing or Play Store asks you to pay again, check that the same account is active. Google says an app bought on Google Play can be used on another Android device without buying it again when both devices are signed in to the same Google Account. Restore an app from Galaxy Store
- Open Galaxy Store.
- Tap Menu (the three horizontal lines).
- Tap My apps, then open the Apps tab.
- Find the app and tap its download icon.
Galaxy Store access requires a Samsung account. For a previously purchased Galaxy Theme, open the Themes tab in My apps and download it there. Samsung Korea says purchased apps may be downloaded again for free, but availability is not guaranteed: a seller may stop offering an app, or a device or operating-system change may affect redownloading. That guidance is market-specific, not a universal promise for every app or Galaxy device. If you cannot find the app in either store
Unhide it if it is still installed
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen, open Settings, then tap Hide apps on Home and Apps screens. Under Hidden apps, deselect the app and tap Done. Samsung says hiding removes the icon, not the app itself.

Check whether it was disabled
Return to Google Play’s Manage screen and look for the app in the available list. A disabled app may offer Enable rather than Install. Some preloaded apps cannot be removed, but they can be disabled, so this is worth checking before treating one as deleted.
Verify the store and account
Check both stores if you are unsure where the app came from. Then confirm that Play Store is signed in to the Google Account originally used for the app, and that Galaxy Store has the relevant Samsung account. An app history in one store does not establish that it was obtained through the other.

Consider compatibility and availability
An app may no longer be offered, or it may not support the current device or software. Samsung advises checking compatibility information and contacting the developer if the app needs an update. A past listing is not a guarantee that the app can still be downloaded; the developer or store’s availability rules can change. Reinstalling restores the app, not necessarily its previous content or settings. The store instructions explain how to install or enable an app; they do not promise that its old data will return. After reinstalling, sign in to the app’s account and check its own sync or backup settings. If data is still missing, ask the app’s developer about recovery options before making changes that could overwrite a backup.
