If your TV is already set up in SmartThings, you may be able to control it from your phone while you look. If the handset is gone for good, identify your TV’s model before choosing a replacement.
Can you make a Samsung TV remote ring or locate it?
Samsung’s SmartThings Find and Samsung Find materials concern Galaxy phones and tablets, not ordinary Samsung TV remotes. The Samsung TV-control and replacement instructions covered here do not provide a way to ring, map-locate, or otherwise track a conventional TV remote. Phone-based TV control is a workaround for operating the television, not a way to find the handset.

Where to look for a missing remote
Check sofa cushions and blankets, under or beside furniture, near the TV, and around the last place someone used it. These are practical places to search, not locations suggested by a Samsung tracking feature.
Use your phone as a Samsung TV remote
If your TV is already in SmartThings
On Samsung Canada’s SmartThings instructions, the route is SmartThings > Menu > All devices > select your TV. An on-screen remote appears for supported TVs, though the available controls vary by TV. If the TV is not listed, powered, supported, or reachable, the phone remote may not be available.

If you need to connect the TV first
Samsung US says the phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network and signed in to the same Samsung account to connect the TV to SmartThings. The exact setup and supported controls can vary by model and region. Samsung Australia also documents phone control through its app, while Samsung India describes a separate Mobile Remote feature for select 2025-or-later TVs, requiring Android 11 or later or iOS 16 or later and SmartThings installed. Those India-specific conditions should not be treated as universal requirements for every Samsung TV.
If SmartThings is unavailable
Some TV models may have physical controls you can use temporarily. Their location and capabilities are model-specific; the Samsung guidance reviewed here does not establish a universal button location. Check the instructions for your exact TV model rather than assuming all sets have controls in the same place.

Choose between phone control and a replacement

Neither option is best for everyone. Use SmartThings if the TV is supported and setup is available; choose a model-matched handset if you want a dedicated remote or cannot use phone control.

- Identify the TV model number. Check the TV’s information or model label and use the complete model identifier when searching.
- Search Samsung Parts by the TV model. Samsung US directs customers to its parts site to find the corresponding remote for a TV or projector.
- Check compatibility before ordering. Samsung says remote variations exist. Third-party replacements are also available, but do not assume a generic remote will work with every set.
Availability and listings can differ by country and change over time. Confirm that the specific listing matches your model before buying.
