Check the lot where the drone was last used and the owning Sim’s personal inventory. If it was sent out to record, return to that location and search nearby. Drones have been reported missing after recording, disappearing during interactions, or being left behind when a Sim travels, so there is no guaranteed recovery method.
Where to look first
- Pause and search the current lot. Check the spot where the drone was last used, along with nearby areas where it may have landed.
- Check the owning Sim’s personal inventory. The drone may have returned there rather than remaining in the world.
- Revisit the recording location. If the Sim sent the drone out to record, go back to the lot it was sent from or last used and inspect the surrounding area. Players have reported drones that did not return after recording or were left on a community lot after travel. These are individual reports, not proof that the same behavior affects every game. If you can see the drone
Click the drone and check which interactions are available. If it is accessible in the world, try having the owning Sim drag it into their personal inventory. This is a community-suggested workaround, not an official recovery guarantee: an EA Forums reply says it may fail if the drone has become disconnected from its owner. EA Forums: “Drone Glitch Sims 4”

Consider restoring an earlier save
If you want to try a past save, make a backup of your current save first. Restoring an earlier point can undo progress made since that save, so use the recovery guide linked from EA Help and choose a point from before the drone disappeared.

The cited reports do not establish a universal drone tracker or recall function. One forum participant wished for GPS or a recall button, but that comment is not evidence that either feature exists. The forum discussion identifies the drone as an item from The Sims 4: Get Famous; buying the expansion is relevant only if you need access to that pack’s content, not as a way to restore an object already lost in a save.
