That is the manufacturer’s capacity specification, not a guarantee of a particular number of hours between charges. The regional page also lists 45 W turbo charging: charging wattage concerns how quickly a compatible setup can replenish the phone, not how long it runs per charge.
Use the Default refresh-rate setting
Open Display settings and choose Default for refresh rate if your phone offers it. Xiaomi says the default option adjusts dynamically by scenario to balance performance and power. A higher refresh rate can make motion look smoother, but Xiaomi notes that it consumes more power. Default is a sensible starting point when you want responsive everyday use without holding the screen at a higher setting.

Xiaomi’s REDMI 17 FAQ says refresh rate can be adjusted in display settings. The precise label or availability can vary; Xiaomi’s regional product specifications also caution that configurations and connectivity may differ by region.
Lower brightness to a comfortable level
Reduce brightness using the phone’s display brightness control or Control center. Choose a level that remains comfortable and readable in your surroundings rather than aiming for an arbitrary percentage. Xiaomi describes brightness as adjustable through Display settings or Control center in its display guidance.

Use Battery saver when the trade-off is worthwhile
If you need more runtime after adjusting routine settings, enable Battery saver in the phone’s battery settings. Xiaomi says it reduces app background activity, stops sync, and minimizes system animations. That can mean delayed background updates or less frequent syncing, so treat it as a situational option rather than a setting that leaves every background task unchanged. Xiaomi describes Balanced mode as recommended for normal use in its Battery saver guidance.
If the Redmi 17 battery is still draining unusually fast
Check battery usage by app in the phone’s own settings, if that option is present, and look for an app using substantially more power than you expect. The exact battery-usage menu path is not established for every Redmi 17 configuration, so follow the labels shown on your device rather than relying on a model-specific path. If one app stands out, review its background activity or usage settings before changing system-wide behavior.
