To follow its effects, revisit places connected with blockade activity, pay attention to what changes around those locations, and treat clearing a blockade as potentially repeatable—not as a guaranteed permanent fix. Pearl Abyss has confirmed the feature was added, but its official announcements do not explain exact triggers or a complete step-by-step method.
What “world-changing feature” most likely means
The title is ambiguous: it does not name a mechanic. Re-blockading is the best-supported interpretation because Pearl Abyss has discussed blockades, invasion threats to some bases, changes to the flow before and after blockades, and rewards for clearing them. That makes it a feature worth tracking as you explore, but it does not establish that every captured or cleared location will change in the same way.

Pearl Abyss describes Crimson Desert as an open-world action-adventure set on Pywel, a world of wilderness, cities, ruins, and varied cultures. Its official site provides the broader setting, not a detailed guide to re-blockading.

In its June 2, 2026 update-plan announcement, Pearl Abyss said it was working on new ways to protect some bases from invasion threats, a more natural transition into and out of blockades, and stronger rewards for clearing them. The developer also cautioned that the outlined work was still in development and could change when implemented. These points describe the planned direction at that time, not a guarantee that every planned adjustment reached the game unchanged. Read Pearl Abyss’s June 2026 update-plan announcement.

On August 18, 2026, Pearl Abyss reported that re-blockading had been added among the game’s post-launch updates. This confirms the feature was implemented by the date of that notice, but the notice does not provide a mechanics guide or say precisely how to trigger a blockade. See the August 2026 update-history notice.
How to explore for its effects without assuming a trigger
Because the official notices do not specify exact activation conditions, timing, or warning signals, there is no evidence-based universal route or checklist of actions that guarantees you will encounter re-blockading. A cautious way to follow the feature is to treat relevant locations as places whose state may be worth checking again rather than assuming that one visit settles what happens there.

- Notice locations involved in blockade activity. Keep track of bases or other places you encounter in connection with a blockade or invasion threat. The official plan refers to threats to some bases, but does not identify a complete location list.
- Observe the location after blockade activity. Compare what you encounter on a later visit with what you saw before. The developer’s planned changes addressed the flow around blockades, but did not publish a definitive list of visual or gameplay signs to look for.
- If a blockade is present, consider clearing it. Pearl Abyss has referred to rewards for clearing blockades. The announcement does not specify reward amounts, eligibility conditions, or whether every blockade has the same reward.
- Revisit rather than treating a clear as permanent. The feature’s name and the developer’s discussion point to the possibility of renewed blockade activity, but the reviewed official notices do not define whether, when, or how a specific location can be blockaded again.
This is a way to pay attention to the system, not a verified sequence of in-game objectives. Use current in-game prompts and available guidance for any exact objective or location instructions.

Confirmed details versus unanswered mechanics
| Question | What official sources establish | What they do not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Is re-blockading in the game? | Pearl Abyss reported it as a post-launch addition in its August 18, 2026 update-history notice. | The notice is not a full how-to or list of in-game conditions. |
| What does it involve? | The June 2026 plan discussed blockades, invasion threats to some bases, transitions around blockades, and rewards for clearing them. | It does not specify exact triggers, timing, warnings, reward values, or a universal prevention method. |
| Can a blockade return after it is cleared? | The feature is called re-blockading, and Pearl Abyss discusses clearing blockades. | The reviewed notices do not confirm a guaranteed repeat for any particular location or explain its conditions. |
| Do climbing or gliding cause it? | Pearl Abyss identifies climbing and gliding as traversal methods used in exploration. | The launch announcement does not connect those movement systems to blockade triggers. |
Exploration and traversal are related, but not proven triggers
Pearl Abyss said in its March 19, 2026 launch announcement: “Traversal plays a major role in exploration, with mechanics such as climbing, gliding, and other movement systems enabling players to freely navigate the world.” That is the publisher’s description of traversal, not evidence that climbing or gliding activates re-blockading. Use those movement options to explore Pywel; do not rely on them as a blockade strategy. Read the launch announcement.
