To exit kiosk mode on a Lenovo tablet, first identify whether it is using ordinary Android screen pinning or an administrator-managed kiosk. If normal Android navigation is available, try unpinning the app; if Home or Overview is blocked, or the kiosk app returns after a restart, contact the organization or administrator that enrolled the tablet. There is no universal Lenovo kiosk exit code or key sequence.
Identify which kind of kiosk mode is active
| What you see | Likely mode | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| A pinned app, with ordinary Android controls and Settings available | Screen pinning | Use the unpin gesture for the tablet’s navigation style and enter the device owner’s screen-lock credential if requested. Lenovo’s instructions are for smartphones, so labels or gestures may differ on a tablet. Lenovo support: pin and unpin a screen |
| Home, Overview, or the status bar is unavailable; the kiosk app returns after restart; or an exit PIN is requested | Managed kiosk or Android lock task mode | Ask the deploying organization or device administrator for its approved exit method or a policy change. Android Developers: lock task mode |
Try unpinning if normal Android controls still work
Screen pinning is a user-exitable Android feature, unlike a managed kiosk lockdown. Follow Lenovo’s unpin instructions using the gesture or buttons appropriate to the tablet’s navigation mode. If Android asks for a credential, use the screen-lock PIN, password, or other unlock method configured by the device owner. Because Lenovo’s linked article covers smartphones, confirm that its directions match the tablet’s Android release and navigation setup before relying on a specific button combination. Android Developers explains the distinction between screen pinning and lock task mode.

If the tablet is managed, use the administrator’s exit process
Android lock task mode can restrict a device to apps approved by a device policy controller and can hide Home, Overview, or the status bar. The allowed system controls depend on the policy, so missing navigation is a strong sign that ordinary unpinning will not work. The administrator can change the device policy; Android’s documentation describes ending managed lock task mode by removing an app from the allowlist on Android 6.0 or later, with a caveat for Android 5.0 and 5.1. See Android’s lock task mode guidance.
Google Android Management API
For devices configured through the Android Management API, an administrator can designate a kiosk app that launches at boot. To stop that kiosk behavior, the administrator changes the app’s install type to a value other than KIOSK. This is a management-policy change, not a consumer-side gesture. Microsoft Intune
Intune can be configured with a temporary “Leave kiosk mode” option. In that setup, the user repeatedly selects Back until “Exit kiosk” appears, enters the configured Leave kiosk mode code PIN, completes the required work, and relaunches Managed Home Screen to relock the tablet. The PIN is a managed setting, typically 4–6 numeric digits according to Microsoft’s documentation; it is not a universal Lenovo code. If the option is not configured, an administrator passcode is required. Microsoft Intune Android kiosk documentation.
Why restarting usually does not solve a managed kiosk
A managed kiosk app may be configured to launch automatically at boot. Restarting can therefore return the tablet to the same restricted app without changing its policy. If this happens, ask the organization or person that enrolled the tablet to release it or update its management configuration. Until ownership and enrollment are clear, do not attempt a reset or bypass: the official guidance describes administrator policy changes, not a universal consumer exit method. What Lenovo fleet-management support does—and does not—mean
Lenovo’s Vantage Pro SDK page describes commercial app and kiosk controls for Lenovo Tab devices running Android P (9) and higher. It describes a commercial workflow involving Lenovo contact, registration, and licensing. It does not establish that a typical consumer tablet has this SDK or that it provides an end-user exit button. Lenovo Vantage Pro SDK.
