To show an on-screen alert when someone gifts YouTube channel memberships, enable channel memberships on your eligible YouTube channel, connect that channel to Streamlabs, and add a gift-specific variation to the YouTube Members event in Alert Box. Then add the Alert Box to your streaming scene and test it.
Before you start: enable YouTube channel memberships
In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Memberships and complete the enablement flow if the channel is eligible. The Memberships tab only appears for eligible channels. YouTube notes that after joining the YouTube Partner Program, eligibility review and activation may take up to two days. Streamlabs also says to ensure Channel memberships or Super Chat is eligible and turned on before linking the integration. Connect the right YouTube channel to Streamlabs
- Sign in to Streamlabs with the Google account associated with the intended YouTube channel.
- Follow Streamlabs’ on-screen instructions to connect YouTube.
- Check that the connected account is the channel whose live stream will use the alert. YouTube’s integration guide explains connecting third-party tools for Super Chat and channel memberships: support.google.com/youtube/answer/94522.
Create a membership-gifting alert variation
- Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and select Alert Box.
- Choose the YouTube Members event, then add an alert variation.
- Choose the condition that matches the alert you want:
- Membership gift amount is [amount] to target a specific gift amount.
- User gifted at least [amount] members at once to alert when a gift batch reaches a threshold.
- Membership gift level is [level name] to target a membership level.
- Name the variation so you can recognize its purpose. Customize available elements such as image or GIF, sound, text, animation, and duration, then save.
These are conditions for the YouTube Members event, not separate platform events. Streamlabs’ Alert Box variations guide (updated June 12, 2026) lists the gift amount, number gifted at once, and gift level conditions. Available conditions depend on the selected platform and event, so confirm YouTube and Members are selected if the conditions are missing.

Streamlabs Desktop
In the scene you plan to use, select the plus sign in Sources, then choose Alert Box. Confirm the source is visible and layered appropriately in that scene.

Other streaming software
Copy the Alert Box widget link from the Streamlabs Dashboard and add it as a browser source in the software’s scene. Use the correct link and scene; Streamlabs says event filters can limit which selected alerts are displayed through the widget. Its YouTube alerts guide (updated April 25, 2025) covers widget placement and testing.
Preview and test the alert
- Preview the alert while editing its appearance in Streamlabs.
- In the Dashboard alert settings, use Test and select the alert type.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, use Test Widgets and select the event.
A test checks that the configured alert can travel through the overlay path; it does not prove that YouTube received a real membership gift.

Membership gifts are not Gifts powered by Jewels

Enabling Jewels Gifts does not configure the Streamlabs membership-gifting variation. YouTube documents separate availability and stream/chat restrictions for Jewels Gifts, which can change: Gifts eligibility and availability. For channel membership gifting, YouTube says recipients must opt in; its rules also exclude recipients signed in through Brand Accounts and people who are already members under the cited instructions.
Troubleshoot missing or invisible alerts
The Members event or gift conditions are missing
- In Streamlabs, confirm the selected platform is YouTube and the event is Members.
- In YouTube Studio, check Earn > Memberships and confirm channel memberships are eligible and enabled.
The test works, but the alert does not appear in the live scene
Check that the Alert Box source is in the active Streamlabs Desktop scene, or that the correct browser-source link is in the active scene in your other streaming software. Run the test again from the Dashboard or widget controls.

You see a YouTube chat welcome but no Streamlabs overlay
YouTube says an ordinary new membership during a live stream produces a bright green welcome message in chat, pinned for five minutes. That native chat notice is separate from the Streamlabs visual alert. See YouTube’s membership management guide.
You followed Earn > Supers & gifts but cannot configure the alert
That path is for the separate Jewels-powered Gifts feature. For channel membership gifts, return to the YouTube Members event in Streamlabs Alert Box and set up a gift variation.

No recipient receives a gift
Changing Streamlabs settings cannot override YouTube’s recipient eligibility. The recipient must opt in, and YouTube’s documented restrictions apply. Check YouTube’s current gifted memberships guidance.
