One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo enable YouTube live streaming on a school account, first check whether it is a school-issued Google Workspace for Education account and whether the school has marked the user as under 18. YouTube lists live-stream creation as unavailable for K–12 users designated under 18; a webcam, encoder, or change to viewing access cannot remove that restriction. If you are 18 or older but incorrectly marked under 18, ask the school administrator to correct the designation. Once the account is eligible, meet YouTube’s channel requirements and start a stream in YouTube Studio.
First check whether the school account is eligible
A school-issued Google Workspace for Education account is managed by the school. Google says K–12 users designated under 18 cannot create YouTube live streams. This is an account eligibility restriction, not a hardware or streaming-software problem. YouTube’s guidance for school accounts explains the age designation and what to do if it is incorrect; Google’s Workspace for Education feature guidance lists the restriction.

If you are 18 or older but marked under 18
- Contact the school administrator who manages the Google Workspace for Education account.
- Ask them to correct the account’s age designation to over 18.
- After the administrator updates it, sign in to YouTube. Create a channel if YouTube prompts you to do so.
If you are under 18 in a K–12 school account
The documented restriction applies. The reviewed Google guidance does not describe an administrator setting that enables live-stream creation for an under-18 K–12 account. Do not rely on changing YouTube viewing access or purchasing streaming equipment as a workaround.
Do not confuse viewing access with live-stream eligibility
Google documents “Unrestricted YouTube access” as a control over viewing access. It does not say that enabling it overrides the under-18 K–12 restriction on creating live streams. Ask the administrator about the account’s eligibility rather than treating a viewing-access setting as a live-stream switch. Google’s Workspace for Education feature guidance covers the relevant school-account controls.

Meet YouTube’s channel requirements
Passing the school-account check is only one part of eligibility. YouTube’s general live-stream requirements also apply:
- The person streaming must be at least 16.
- The channel must be verified.
- The channel must have had no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days.
YouTube Help states: “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.” See Get started with live streaming for the current requirements and available methods.

Start a live stream when the account is eligible
- Sign in to YouTube with the eligible account and open YouTube Studio.
- Select Create, then Go Live.
- Choose the method that fits your broadcast: Webcam for a straightforward computer stream, Mobile for phone-based streaming, Encoder for a more involved production, or Console where supported.
- Follow the on-screen setup for the selected method and start the stream.
Choosing an encoder rather than a webcam changes how you produce the broadcast, not whether the account is eligible. An encoder can suit gameplay, overlays, or external audio and video equipment; it cannot override a school-account restriction.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTroubleshoot the restriction before changing equipment
- You cannot create a live stream on a school account: Confirm with the school administrator whether it is a Workspace for Education account and whether the account is designated under 18. For K–12 users designated under 18, the documented restriction prevents live-stream creation.
- You are 18 or older but the school account says you are under 18: Ask the administrator to correct the designation, then sign in again and create a channel if prompted.
- You can watch YouTube but cannot go live: Viewing permission and live-stream eligibility are different. “Unrestricted YouTube access” is not documented as a fix for the under-18 live-stream restriction.
- The account appears eligible but Go Live is unavailable: Check that the channel is verified, the streamer meets YouTube’s minimum age, and there has been no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days.
- You are considering a webcam, encoder, or capture device: Resolve eligibility first. Equipment may help with production after the account can stream, but it does not change age or administrator-controlled account restrictions.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an eligible channel that needs a prerecorded video looped as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. This does not change YouTube or school-account eligibility, and StreamNeo streams uploaded videos rather than live camera footage. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
