To enable Windows “God Mode,” create a folder and rename it GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. Press Enter; when its icon changes to a Control Panel-style icon, open it to browse grouped links to Windows settings and system tasks. The same folder trick works in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
What God Mode does in Windows
“God Mode” is an informal name for a folder-based shortcut that gathers links to configuration tasks in one place. It is not a separate Windows mode, does not unlock hidden privileges, and does not change settings by itself. Some linked tools may still require administrator permission.

The folder is a convenience index, not a guarantee that every Windows option will appear there. Its entries can vary by Windows edition and hardware. Microsoft describes the Settings app as the main place to configure Windows, while Control Panel remains available for compatibility and for settings that have not moved. Microsoft also notes that some Control Panel settings are being migrated to Settings. Microsoft’s overview of Windows configuration tools covers Windows 10 and Windows 11.

How to create the God Mode folder
- In File Explorer or on the desktop, create a new folder. In File Explorer, you can use New > Folder.
- Rename the folder to
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. Keep the period before the opening brace and include the full identifier inside the braces. - Press Enter. The folder should change to a Control Panel-style icon.
- Open the folder to view its grouped links to Windows settings and system tasks.
You can replace “GodMode” with another label if you prefer, but keep the period and the complete identifier unchanged. The setup string is documented in Windows Central’s guide to the folder shortcut.

Why a setting may be missing or open somewhere else
The list is not identical on every PC. Windows edition and hardware affect which entries are available, and the shortcut may lead to Settings, Control Panel, or another Windows tool. For a particular task, search in the God Mode folder first; if it is not listed, use Windows Search or look in Settings and Control Panel. The destination and access required depend on the specific task.
Troubleshooting a folder that did not change
- Check the exact spelling: The period before the identifier and every character in
{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}matter. Correct the name and press Enter again. - Confirm you renamed the folder: The identifier must be part of the folder name, not the name of a file inside it.
- Look for the icon change: The folder should take on a Control Panel-style icon. Open it after the change to see the task list.
How to remove the shortcut
If you no longer need it, delete the folder as you would an ordinary folder. It is a folder-based shortcut, not a separate application that needs to be uninstalled.
