To enable G-SYNC on an Odyssey G7, turn on the monitor’s variable-refresh-rate setting, then open NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Display > Set up G-SYNC. Check Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible, choose whether it should apply to full-screen or windowed applications, select the G7 if prompted, and apply the changes. First check the monitor’s exact model: NVIDIA’s cited compatibility listing covers the 2020 27-inch and 32-inch Odyssey G7, not every product sold under the G7 name.
Check which Odyssey G7 you have
“Odyssey G7” covers multiple generations and model sizes. Find the model number on the monitor’s rear label or in your computer’s display information before relying on compatibility details for a particular G7. NVIDIA’s published list specifically identifies the 2020 27-inch and 32-inch models. It does not establish the same validation or variable-refresh range for every later G7.

NVIDIA calls displays that support this feature without a dedicated G-SYNC module “G-SYNC Compatible.” The result on an individual PC also depends on the graphics card, driver, connection, monitor settings, and software. Enabling the Control Panel option does not guarantee identical behavior across all systems.
What NVIDIA lists for the 2020 models
| 2020 Odyssey G7 size | Resolution | Published VRR range | Maximum refresh rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 27-inch | 2560 × 1440 | 60–240 Hz | 240 Hz |
| 32-inch | 2560 × 1440 | 80–240 Hz | 240 Hz |
NVIDIA published the size-specific VRR ranges in its 2020 DirectX 12 Ultimate Game Ready Driver announcement. Samsung’s legacy product material lists the C27G75T and C32G75T family at 2560 × 1440 and up to 240 Hz in its February 2022 monitor product information. These are published specifications, not independent measurements; do not apply the listed ranges to another generation or SKU without checking its official specifications and NVIDIA’s compatibility information.
#1 Best Overall
- Samsung’s 40” Odyssey G7 G75 WUHD 180Hz Curved Gaming Monitor provides breathtaking realism for epic gameplay.
- 40” 1000R curved display with a 21:9 screen and brilliant Ultrawide 4K resolution wraps around the field of vision for next-level gaming.
- VESA DisplayHDR 600 delivers more contrast, with deeper blacks and brighter whites for greater clarity even in dark scenes.
- 180Hz refresh rate and near-instant 1ms response time (GtG) minimizes lag for ultra-smooth gameplay.
Enable G-SYNC in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Connect the monitor to the NVIDIA GPU. If you are manually enabling VRR on a display that is not listed as compatible, NVIDIA’s instructions specify a DisplayPort connection.
- Enable VRR in the monitor menu. Use the on-screen controls to turn on the variable-refresh feature if your model has a setting for it. It may be called Adaptive-Sync or FreeSync; check the manual for your exact G7 rather than assuming all generations use the same label.
- Open the G-SYNC page. In NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Display > Set up G-SYNC. NVIDIA’s Control Panel help identifies this as the page for configuring G-SYNC.
- Enable G-SYNC Compatible. Check Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible if it is not already selected.
- Choose where G-SYNC applies. Select full-screen-only or windowed and full-screen mode. The latter enables G-SYNC for windowed applications; full-screen-only is an option if windowed applications cause trouble.
- Select the G7 if prompted. Choose the display-specific option for the intended monitor, then follow any remaining instructions on the page.
- Confirm the monitor technology setting. Under Manage 3D Settings, check that Monitor Technology is set to G-SYNC/G-SYNC Compatible, then apply the changes.
Choose full-screen or windowed mode
| Control Panel choice | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Full screen mode | You primarily run games or applications full-screen, or windowed use has problems. |
| Windowed and full screen mode | You want G-SYNC available to windowed applications as well as full-screen ones. |
If G-SYNC is missing or does not seem to work
- Check the display connection. Make sure the G7 is connected to and enabled on the NVIDIA GPU, rather than another graphics output. For manual enablement on an unlisted VRR monitor, NVIDIA specifies DisplayPort.
- Check the monitor’s VRR setting. Confirm in the monitor’s on-screen menu or manual that its variable-refresh feature is enabled.
- Confirm the selected display. If NVIDIA Control Panel offers a display-specific option, verify that it refers to the G7 you intend to use.
- Verify model and driver. Compare the monitor’s exact model number with NVIDIA’s compatibility information and confirm that the NVIDIA graphics driver is installed and current for your system.
- Distinguish listed from manually enabled displays. NVIDIA says an unlisted VRR display can be enabled manually, but warns that it may work, work partly, or not work. An available checkbox alone does not establish that every feature will work correctly on that model.
Samsung’s product page for the newer 27-inch Odyssey G7 G70F also notes that NVIDIA graphics compatibility depends on using a compatible card. That page does not extend NVIDIA’s cited 2020 G7 listing to every newer model.
