To enable EXPO on a Ryzen 5 7600X PC, open your motherboard’s UEFI/BIOS, select an EXPO profile for your installed memory, save the change, and restart. The 7600X supports AMD EXPO and DDR5, but the setting’s name and location depend on your motherboard, and your RAM must include an EXPO profile.
What EXPO does on a Ryzen 5 7600X
AMD EXPO is a pre-configured memory profile for DDR5 overclocking, optimized for Ryzen 7000 processors and Socket AM5. It loads settings for the memory kit, including timings and voltage; it is enabled in motherboard firmware, not in Windows. AMD lists the Ryzen 5 7600X as supporting EXPO.

The processor’s published maximum memory speeds vary by configuration: AMD lists DDR5-5200 for two single-rank or two dual-rank DIMMs, and DDR5-3600 for four DIMMs in the listed rank configurations. Those specifications do not guarantee that a particular system will run a memory kit at its EXPO-rated speed. Check the memory kit and motherboard documentation for compatibility details.
How do I turn on EXPO on a Ryzen 5 7600X?
- Find your motherboard model. Check the system information, the board itself, or the PC documentation. Open that model’s manual or support page to find its documented method for entering UEFI/BIOS and its memory settings. AMD directs users to the system or motherboard maker for board-specific firmware instructions: AMD BIOS update guidance.
- Enter UEFI/BIOS. Restart the PC and use the key or other method documented for your motherboard. There is no single hotkey or menu path that applies to every board.
- Find the memory profile control. Look under the board’s memory, DRAM, or overclocking settings. The label and location vary by manufacturer and firmware version.
- Select the available EXPO profile. Choose an EXPO option offered for your installed memory. For example, MSI’s AM5 BIOS manual describes its EXPO item as loading the profile’s optimized timing and voltage settings; that is an example, not a universal menu path. MSI AM5 BIOS manual.
- Save and restart. Use the firmware’s save-and-exit command. After the PC restarts, confirm that the operating system loads and check the memory speed using the operating system or a system-information utility.
- Verify the result. Confirm that the reported memory speed matches the profile you intended to select. A successful boot alone does not establish long-term stability.
Where is the EXPO setting in BIOS?
There is no universal location. The motherboard’s firmware provides the control, and manufacturers can use different menus and labels. Start with the manual or support page for your exact board and look for memory, DRAM, or overclocking controls. MSI’s manual is one documented AM5 example, but its labels and layout should not be assumed to match another brand or model.

- Accelerated gaming performance: Every millisecond gained in fast-paced gameplay counts—power through heavy workloads and benefit from versatile downclocking and higher frame rates
- Optimized DDR5 compatibility: Best for 12th Gen Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors — Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO also supported on the same RAM module
- Trusted Micron Quality: Backed by 42 years of memory expertise, this DDR5 RAM is rigorously tested at both component and module levels, ensuring top performance and reliability
- ECC Type = Non-ECC, Form Factor = SODIMM, Pin Count = 262-Pin, PC Speed = PC5-44800, Voltage = 1.1V, Rank And Configuration = 1Rx8
Why is EXPO not showing in BIOS?
- The memory kit may not have an EXPO profile. The processor’s EXPO support does not add a profile to RAM that lacks one. Check the kit’s specifications and packaging.
- The board may expose the option under a different label or menu. Consult the manual and support page for the exact motherboard model.
- Check tested-kit information. AMD’s memory compatibility list identifies kits tested at their rated speed and latency and indicates whether they support EXPO. Use it as a compatibility reference, alongside the motherboard maker’s documentation; a listing is not a guarantee for every system configuration.
You do not need to buy new memory simply to enable the setting if your current kit already has a usable EXPO profile. Replacement or upgrade memory is relevant only if the installed kit lacks one or is otherwise unsuitable.

If enabling EXPO prevents startup or causes instability, follow the recovery instructions for your motherboard to restore firmware defaults or clear CMOS. The procedure varies by model, so do not rely on a universal button, jumper, or key sequence. AMD directs users to the motherboard or system maker for board-specific guidance in its BIOS update guidance.
