What to look for inside Paytm
- Dark: Forces Paytm to use a darker interface, if the option is available.
- Light: Keeps the app in the standard bright theme.
- System default: Makes Paytm match your phone’s Android or iPhone appearance setting.
- No theme option: Means your current app version, device, or account may not have Paytm’s built-in dark theme controls.
If you do not see any appearance or theme option, it does not necessarily mean something is wrong with your phone. Turn on dark theme from Android settings
- Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Tap Display or Display & brightness, depending on your phone brand.
- Look for Dark theme, Dark mode, or Night mode.
- Switch it on.
- Close Paytm completely from the recent apps screen, then open it again.
On Google Pixel and many phones running near-stock Android, the option is usually called Dark theme. On Samsung Galaxy phones, it is generally named Dark mode under Display settings. On OnePlus, Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Oppo phones, the wording may vary slightly, but it is usually found in the Display section. Once enabled, Android changes supported system screens and compatible apps to a darker color scheme.
Use Quick Settings for faster access
You can also enable dark mode from the Android Quick Settings panel. Swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice to expand the toggles, then look for Dark theme, Dark mode, or a moon-shaped icon. If you do not see it, tap the edit pencil or Edit buttons option and add the dark mode tile to your Quick Settings panel. This is useful if you want to switch themes before opening Paytm at night or in low-light conditions.
Schedule dark mode automatically
Most Android phones let you schedule dark mode so it turns on at sunset, at a custom time, or during night hours. To set this up, go to Settings > Display > Dark theme and look for Schedule. You may see choices such as Turns on from sunset to sunrise or Turns on at custom time. Enable Dark Mode Through iPhone Display Settings
On iPhone, the most reliable way to get a darker Paytm interface is to turn on iOS Dark Mode from the device settings. If your installed Paytm version supports following the system appearance, the app should automatically use a darker theme after iOS switches from Light to Dark. Paytm may not always provide a separate in-app dark mode toggle, so the iPhone’s display setting is usually the first place to check.
To enable Dark Mode on iPhone, open Settings, tap Display & Brightness, and select Dark under the Appearance section. After changing this setting, close Paytm completely and reopen it. On iPhones with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom and pause, then swipe Paytm away from the app switcher. On iPhones with a Home button, double-press the Home button and swipe Paytm away. Relaunching the app helps it reload the current system theme.

You can also turn on Dark Mode quickly from Control Center. Swipe down from the top-right corner on iPhones with Face ID, or swipe up from the bottom on older models with a Home button. Touch and hold the brightness slider, then tap Dark Mode. This is useful if you switch themes often, such as using Light Mode during the day and Dark Mode at night.
If you prefer automatic switching, iOS can change appearance based on time. In Settings > Display & Brightness, enable Automatic, then tap Options. You can choose Sunset to Sunrise or set a custom schedule. When the iPhone changes to Dark Mode at the scheduled time, Paytm should follow it only if the app supports system-based theme changes in your current version.
If Paytm stays light on iPhone
If Paytm does not turn dark after enabling iOS Dark Mode, it may mean the app version on your device does not support a full dark theme yet, or Paytm is applying its own fixed interface colors for certain screens. Payment pages, bank verification flows, banners, mini-apps, and web-based sections inside Paytm may also appear light even when the main app uses darker elements.
- Update Paytm from the App Store to get the latest interface changes.
- Restart your iPhone after updating, then open Paytm again.
- Check whether Dark Mode works in other apps to confirm the iPhone setting is active.
- Disable and re-enable Dark Mode from Display & Brightness.
- Look inside Paytm’s profile or settings area in case a theme option has been added in your app version.
For a darker overall experience on iPhone, you can also try Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and use options such as Reduce White Point to lower bright whites across the screen. This does not create a true Paytm dark mode, but it can make bright screens more comfortable when Paytm itself does not fully switch themes.
Update Paytm to Get the Latest Theme Features
If Paytm is not following your phone’s dark theme, the first practical step is to update the app. Theme support often depends on the app version installed on your device, and Paytm may roll out interface changes gradually through Play Store or App Store updates. On Android, open the Google Play Store, search for Paytm, and check whether an Update button is available. If it appears, install the update, then close Paytm completely and reopen it. On iPhone, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, pull down to refresh the updates list, and install any available Paytm update. After updating, restart the app and check whether it now matches the system appearance setting.
How to check that Paytm is fully updated
- Android: Go to Play Store > search Paytm > open the app page > tap Update if shown.
- iPhone: Go to App Store > profile icon > Available Updates > tap Update next to Paytm.
- Automatic updates: Enable auto-updates so Paytm receives new interface and compatibility changes without manual checks.

On many Android phones, turning on Battery Saver can automatically enable a darker system appearance or encourage apps to use power-saving visual behavior. Accessibility options that can darken Paytm
- Android Color inversion: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Color and motion or Visibility enhancements, then enable Color inversion. This flips light colors to dark, but images, QR codes, icons, and merchant logos may also look inverted.
- Android Extra dim: On supported phones, open Settings > Accessibility > Extra dim. This does not change Paytm’s theme, but it lowers screen intensity below the normal brightness slider, which helps at night.
- iPhone Smart Invert: Open Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Smart Invert. It attempts to invert bright interface areas while preserving some media, though Paytm screens may still appear uneven.
- iPhone Reduce White Point: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce White Point. Increase the slider to reduce the harshness of white backgrounds in Paytm and other apps.
For a faster setup on iPhone, you can assign Smart Invert or Reduce White Point to the Accessibility Shortcut. Open Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut, select the option you prefer, then triple-click the side button or home button when you want to use Paytm in a dimmer mode. On Android, you can add Accessibility shortcuts from the same Accessibility menu or place Battery Saver in Quick Settings so it can be toggled before opening Paytm.
These alternatives are best treated as temporary workarounds rather than a perfect replacement for native dark mode. Before scanning QR codes, approving UPI payments, or checking transaction details, make sure text, amounts, buttons, and merchant names are clearly readable. If color inversion makes Paytm’s scanner, QR display, or payment confirmation screen confusing, turn it off for that transaction and use Extra dim, Reduce White Point, or lower brightness instead.

Check the basic theme settings first
- Android: Go to Settings > Display > Dark theme and make sure it is turned on. On some phones, you may also find it under Settings > Display > Night mode or Theme.
- iPhone: Open Settings > Display & Brightness and select Dark. If Automatic is enabled, check whether the schedule is currently set to light mode.
- Inside Paytm: Open Paytm and check Profile, Settings, or App settings for any appearance-related option. If no theme option appears, your version may only follow system settings or may not support dark mode yet.
Next, update Paytm from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Theme-related changes are often released gradually, and an older build may not respond properly to system-wide dark mode.
