To enable Creative Mode, join the Conan Exiles server, make yourself an administrator, open Settings > Server Settings > Building, and set Creative Mode Server to Admins Only or All Players. Return to the pause menu, select Enter Creative Mode, and press F to open the Construction Inventory on PC. Creative Mode removes normal building costs and restrictions; anything you place stays in the game world after you leave the mode.

What Creative Mode changes
Creative Mode is a server-controlled building feature for Conan Exiles. When it is active for your player, construction does not use the normal resource costs and is not limited by the usual building restrictions. Funcom author “torea” described the feature in a July 7, 2022 announcement as: “Creative Mode pushes this aspect to its fullest, letting you build without costs or restrictions.”

A server owner can leave Creative Mode unavailable, reserve it for administrators, or allow every player to use it. Players do not automatically enter the mode merely because the server setting has been changed.
- Server setting: determines which players are allowed to use Creative Mode.
- Enter Creative Mode: the player-side command in the pause menu that activates it for the current session.
- Construction Inventory: the inventory used to select buildable items while the mode is active.
- World persistence: items created in Creative Mode remain normally in the world after they are placed.
Choose the right server access level
Open Settings > Server Settings > Building and locate Creative Mode Server. The setting has three access choices. Select the narrowest option that matches the purpose of your server.

Changing the access level does not itself place anyone in Creative Mode. Each permitted player must choose Enter Creative Mode from the pause menu. The feature is described as a per-session toggle, so expect to activate it again after reconnecting or after a server restart.
Step 1: Obtain administrator rights
By default, an administrator is required to change the server setting and use an administrator-only Creative Mode configuration. Join the server with the account that should manage it, then use the in-game administrator control.
- Open the pause menu.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Server Settings.
- Select Make Me Admin.
- Enter the server administrator password when prompted.
On PC, the administrator console also documents the command MakeMeAdmin [AdminPassword]. Replace [AdminPassword] with the server’s actual administrator password; do not type the square brackets. The admin wiki lists Insert or tilde (~) for opening the command interface on PC, and Ctrl+Shift+C for opening the Admin Panel.
Administrator status is a permission step, not Creative Mode itself. After the server recognizes you as an administrator, continue to the Building settings and choose the access scope you want.

Step 2: Enable Creative Mode on the server
- Remain connected to the server and open the pause menu.
- Go to Settings > Server Settings.
- Open the Building section.
- Find Creative Mode Server.
- Choose Disabled, Admins Only, or All Players. To use Creative Mode yourself, select Admins Only if you are an administrator, or All Players if access should be open to everyone.
- Back out of the settings and return to the pause menu.
The setting is server-side. A player who cannot change it may still be able to use Creative Mode when the owner has selected All Players, but the player must still activate the mode from the pause menu.
Step 3: Enter Creative Mode
With permission available, return to the pause menu and choose Enter Creative Mode. The option is the player action that starts the mode; it is not found inside the Construction Inventory.

On console, the documented process still uses the pause-menu option and the platform’s normal menu controls. The supplied procedure does not assign a universal console keyboard shortcut for the Construction Inventory, so follow the on-screen control prompt for the connected platform rather than assuming the PC F key applies.

Step 4: Leave Creative Mode and understand session behavior
- Open the pause menu.
- Select Exit Creative Mode.
- Continue playing with the server’s normal building rules.
Exiting ends the current Creative Mode session; it does not remove objects you already placed. Structures and other items created in the mode remain normally in the game world. Because access is handled as a per-session toggle, use Enter Creative Mode again when you reconnect or when the server has restarted.
Why “Enter Creative Mode” is missing
The missing menu item is usually a permission or configuration issue. Check the following in order.

An administrator-only server will not grant the option to an ordinary player. Ask the server owner to make your account an administrator, or have the owner change Creative Mode Server to All Players. If you own the server, use Settings > Server Settings > Make Me Admin and provide the administrator password.
The server is still set to Disabled
Open Settings > Server Settings > Building and verify that Creative Mode Server is not set to Disabled. Select Admins Only or All Players, depending on who should have access, then return to the pause menu and check again.

You changed the server setting but did not enter the mode
Granting access does not activate Creative Mode automatically. After changing the setting, return to the pause menu and deliberately choose Enter Creative Mode. On PC, press F only after that selection to open the Construction Inventory.

Creative Mode Server is under the server’s Building settings. Enter Creative Mode and Exit Creative Mode are pause-menu actions. The Construction Inventory appears only after entry, rather than as a replacement for the ordinary inventory before entry.
Your permission was lost after reconnecting or restarting
The mode itself is session-based. After reconnecting or a restart, check the pause menu and select Enter Creative Mode again. If the option is absent, recheck the server’s access level and confirm that your administrator status or the All Players allowance is still in effect.
You are using a console and expecting the PC shortcut
The documented F key and the Insert, tilde (~), and Ctrl+Shift+C shortcuts are PC controls. On a console, use the pause-menu selections and the platform’s displayed button prompts.

Use Admins Only for controlled construction
Admins Only is the safer choice when the server is primarily a survival experience but administrators need to repair, test, or prepare builds. It limits no-cost construction to accounts that already have elevated server permissions.

Use All Players for a deliberately unrestricted server
All Players allows every connected player to create without the usual resource costs and restrictions. Choose it only when that behavior is part of the server’s design, such as a collaborative build or showcase. Players can still enter and exit individually, so enabling the setting does not force everyone to remain in Creative Mode.
Keep Disabled when resource progression matters
Disabled preserves normal construction expectations for all players. It is the appropriate setting when obtaining resources and working within standard building restrictions are central to the server’s progression.
Quick checklist
- Join the correct Conan Exiles server.
- Obtain administrator rights through Settings > Server Settings > Make Me Admin, or use
MakeMeAdmin [AdminPassword]on PC. - Open Settings > Server Settings > Building.
- Set Creative Mode Server to Admins Only or All Players.
- Return to the pause menu and select Enter Creative Mode.
- Press F on PC to open the Construction Inventory.
- Choose Exit Creative Mode when finished.
- After reconnecting or a restart, enter the mode again for the new session.
What happens to builds made in Creative Mode?
Creative Mode changes the cost and restriction rules used while creating a build. Once an item is placed, it remains normally in the world after you exit the mode. Leaving Creative Mode therefore does not undo the construction you completed; it only returns your character to the ordinary building rules for subsequent work.
