Open the presentation in Canva, select Share, then Download, choose PPTX (Microsoft PowerPoint) as the file type, and select Download again. The exported file opens in PowerPoint, but fonts, layout, animations and video may not carry over perfectly, so check it before you present.
Step-by-step: export a Canva presentation to PPTX
- Open the Canva presentation you want to export.
- Select Share in the editor, then choose Download.
- In the file-type menu, choose PPTX (Microsoft PowerPoint).
- If the design has several pages, choose whether to download all pages, the current page, or custom pages.
- Select Download and save the resulting
.pptxfile.
Canva’s download guide describes this general flow: pick a file type, adjust any settings that apply, select pages, and download. Which settings appear depends on the format and the design.

Which designs can be exported as PPTX
PPTX is offered for Canva presentations. Canva’s Help Center says that downloading other design types, such as posters or social posts, as PPTX is currently unsupported (Canva: choose the right download file type). If you don’t see PPTX in the menu, check that the design is a presentation.

Canva warns that a design downloaded as PPTX may look different when opened in Microsoft PowerPoint. Open the file and review it before presenting or sharing:

- Layout: look for shifted text boxes, changed spacing or altered text wrapping, and edit as needed.
- Fonts: if a Canva font isn’t installed on your computer, PowerPoint substitutes another one. Download and install the fonts used in your design to keep the look consistent.
- Animations and video: Canva says animations and embedded videos are not yet supported in Microsoft PowerPoint and may not play as expected. Test them, or plan to re-add them in PowerPoint.

PPTX or another format?
Choose by what you need to do next. Canva’s guidance doesn’t say any one format is best for everything.

If Canva asks for payment
A payment prompt doesn’t mean PPTX export always needs a paid plan. According to Canva’s download guide, a design containing premium elements may require payment before download. Free users can purchase a Pro Content license, upgrade, or download a watermarked draft. Separately, some download options are restricted to Pro, Teams, Business, Education or Nonprofits plans. If you want to avoid paying, replacing the premium elements with free ones is the usual route to try.
