To show the current podcast episode title inside your YouTube video, add it to the picture in your streaming software—such as an OBS text source, title card, or Browser Source overlay. To change the title shown around the YouTube player, edit the broadcast’s YouTube title instead. Those are separate things: a YouTube live broadcast represents one video with one metadata title, not a sequence of episode-specific titles.
Choose where the episode title should appear
- Inside the video: Add text or a graphic to the stream output. Viewers see it as part of the picture, and you can change it when the episode changes.
- On the YouTube watch page: Change the broadcast title in YouTube’s broadcast details. This changes metadata for the live video; it does not add text to the picture.
YouTube describes a live broadcast as representing exactly one YouTube video, with a title in the broadcast’s snippet metadata. The broadcast and the incoming live stream are separate resources that can be bound together. YouTube Live Streaming API: LiveBroadcasts

Show the current episode title inside the video with OBS
- Open the stream scene. In OBS, select the scene that feeds your YouTube stream.
- Add a title source. For a manually updated label, add a text source and enter the episode name. For a designed graphic or externally rendered title, add a Browser Source pointed at the relevant overlay page. OBS documents Browser Source as a way to put web content in a scene: OBS Browser Source documentation.
- Place and format the label. Position it so it does not cover faces, captions, or important artwork. Preview the scene at the size viewers are likely to watch; the episode name should remain legible.
- Update it when the episode changes. Edit the text source, switch to a prepared title-card scene, or refresh the graphic as appropriate for your setup.
- Preview the composed output before going live. Check that the right title is visible and that the overlay appears in the intended position.
Change the title shown on YouTube
Manage the broadcast details in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance is at Get started with live streaming. Studio’s labels and workflow can change, so use the current controls there rather than relying on an old click-by-click path.

Which method fits?
| Method | What viewers see change | Best suited to | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edit the YouTube broadcast title | The metadata title for the one live video | Naming a new broadcast or correcting its overall title | Does not put an episode label inside the video. |
| OBS text source or title card | Text in the outgoing video | Manually changing the label at episode boundaries | You need to update the text or switch scenes yourself. |
| OBS Browser Source overlay | Web content composited into the outgoing video | Styled graphics or a title rendered by an external page | Automatic updates depend on the specific page or overlay and its data integration. |
Will the title update automatically from a podcast?
Not necessarily. The official YouTube and OBS documentation describes broadcast metadata and browser content in scenes; it does not establish universal detection of the episode currently playing in a podcast player. Treat automatic updates as a feature of a specific overlay or production setup, and verify that it supports your exact podcast player or source before relying on it. Otherwise, manually edit the text or switch to the next prepared title card.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your YouTube stream plays uploaded podcast recordings rather than a live camera feed, StreamNeo can keep those videos looping from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not camera-based live production; visit StreamNeo to learn more.
