Turn off Hey Meta and voice controls

Look in the app’s voice or privacy preferences for voice controls, then switch them off. Meta says this setting lets you choose whether to use Meta AI and can be changed again later.

Meta identifies the app as the place to manage preferences for voice, captures, and notifications. Its official overview does not document a current, screen-by-screen menu path, so the exact labels or locations may differ by app version. If you do not see the setting, check the app’s current voice and privacy controls rather than relying on an assumed tap sequence.

Delete existing Meta AI voice recordings
If you want to remove recordings already associated with Meta AI, use the app’s available privacy or data controls to delete them. Meta states, “Yes, you can delete your voice recordings with Meta AI,” but does not specify a current menu sequence on the responsible-innovation page. Follow the controls shown in your app; switching off voice controls alone should not be treated as a deletion request.

Meta says information that is deleted will not be used for future training. It also cautions that deleting information does not immediately change a model that learned from it.
Does turning off voice controls stop the camera?
It is not established as a master camera-off control. Meta describes camera-based AI prompts as using the camera when a user asks something that needs visual context, and treats capture preferences separately. Photos and videos for a gallery or streaming activate the glasses’ notification and capture LEDs, according to Meta. Review the app’s capture preferences separately if your concern includes photos, videos, or streaming.

Meta also says the glasses prevent photo or video capture when the capture light is covered, and advises respecting people’s privacy, including avoiding places where people expect privacy. These capture safeguards and preferences are distinct from the voice-controls setting.
