On the desktop version of Satisfactory, open the debug console and run the fog command to remove world-map fog. If a haze remains, lower the separate Fog Density setting under Options > Video > Advanced; that control handles cosmetic weather fog and is not changed by the console command.

What the two fog controls actually change
Satisfactory can display two different kinds of fog, and treating them as one setting is the reason the usual command sometimes appears not to work.

The debug command r.Fog 0 disables the game’s world-map fog. It is the quickest way to remove the distance fog controlled by the rendering console. Running r.Fog 1 turns that effect back on.
Cosmetic weather fog
Weather can add a separate atmospheric haze. Its control is the Fog Density slider in Options > Video > Advanced. A value of 0 means fully disabled (0%), while 1 means fully enabled (100%); intermediate tenths are available. The weather setting is independent of r.Fog, so the command can succeed while some weather haze remains.
#1 Best Overall
Post-processing quality
The broader Post Processing quality option also changes how fog appears. It is a less precise workaround because it affects other post-processing effects at the same time. Use it only when you want a general visual-quality change rather than a fog-only adjustment.
Disable world-map fog with the desktop console
The documented console method applies to the desktop/PC release. It is a session-level change and does not require a game purchase, accessory or separate utility.
- Start the desktop version of Satisfactory and load the save in which you want to change the view.
- Press the §, backtick (
`) or tilde (~) key to open the debug console. Which physical key works depends on the keyboard layout. - Enter
r.Fog 0exactly as shown and press Enter. - Return to the game view and check the distant landscape. The world-map fog should be disabled for the current session.
- To restore the original effect, open the console again, enter
r.Fog 1, and press Enter.
The command changes the world-map fog only. It does not set the weather system’s Fog Density value.
Remove the remaining weather haze
If the landscape is clearer but clouds or atmospheric weather still create a misty layer, change the targeted video setting instead of repeating the console command.
Rank #2
- Open the pause menu and choose Options.
- Select Video.
- Open Advanced.
- Find Fog Density.
- Move the slider to 0 for the minimum fog level, or choose a lower intermediate value if you want to retain some atmosphere.
- Apply the video change, then return to the game and evaluate the weather effect.
The slider runs from 0 to 1, with tenths between those endpoints. In percentage terms, 0 is 0% fog and 1 is 100% fog. Because this is a separate weather control, lowering it is the step that addresses cosmetic haze left after r.Fog 0.
Choose the right method
| Method | What it changes | Precision | Persistence | Documented platform |
|---|---|---|---|---|
r.Fog 0 |
World-map fog | Single console command | Resets when the game closes to desktop | Desktop/PC |
r.Fog 1 |
Restores world-map fog | Single console command | Also ends with the session reset | Desktop/PC |
| Fog Density = 0 | Cosmetic weather fog | Dedicated slider, with tenths between 0 and 1 | Controlled through the video setting rather than the console toggle | Desktop video settings |
| Lower Post Processing | Fog plus other post-processing effects | Broad visual adjustment | Depends on the saved video setting | Where the video option is available |
For a no-fog view, use the console command first, then set Fog Density to 0 if weather haze is still visible. For a selective change, avoid lowering Post Processing because it changes more than fog.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why the console key may not open
The debug console documentation lists the §, backtick and tilde keys. On some keyboards, the key printed on the US layout is produced differently, so pressing the expected character may do nothing.
- Try each of the three documented keys rather than assuming only tilde is valid.
- If none opens the console, switch temporarily to an English keyboard layout and try again.
- Use the game’s documented key-rebinding option to assign the console to a key that your layout can produce.
These steps address console access; they do not alter the fog command itself. Once the console is visible, enter the command with a space between r.Fog and 0.
If r.Fog 0 appears to do nothing
Some haze remains but distant fog is gone
This is the normal symptom of weather fog being left at its current density. Open Options > Video > Advanced and reduce Fog Density. The console command and slider control different effects.
The whole image still looks heavily processed
Check Post Processing. Its quality level affects fog along with other post-processing effects, so a high setting can preserve a stronger overall atmospheric treatment. Lowering it may reduce the appearance, but it is not a fog-only switch.
The effect vanished after restarting
The debug-console toggle is session based. Official documentation states that console effects reset when the game is closed to the desktop. Run r.Fog 0 again after launching the game if you want the same temporary state in a new session.
The command is accepted but the wrong kind of fog changes
Confirm that the entered command is r.Fog 0, not a Fog Density value. The command targets world-map fog; the slider targets cosmetic weather fog. Applying both controls is necessary when both layers are visible.
Can the setting be made permanent?
Not through the one-line console command alone. The documented behavior is that console changes reset when the game closes to desktop.
The official console documentation points users who need persistent console commands toward editing configuration files. That is a separate, advanced configuration route; the command entered during play should not be treated as a permanent change. Because configuration-file locations and supported entries can vary by installation and game version, use the current console documentation for the applicable file and syntax rather than copying an unverified path.

If you only need a clear view for one building session, exploration trip or screenshot, the console command is the lower-risk approach: apply it after loading the save and let it reset normally when you exit.
Does this work on Xbox or PlayStation?
The documented debug-console workflow is for the desktop release. The reviewed authoritative documentation does not establish an equivalent command-console procedure for Xbox or PlayStation, so the PC key sequence and r.Fog instructions should not be presented as console instructions.
Where the platform exposes the game’s video settings, look for Options > Video > Advanced and the Fog Density control. The available menu and setting can depend on the platform build; no matching console-command workflow is established here.
Quick Recap
A practical no-fog checklist
- Confirm that you are running the desktop/PC version before trying the debug console.
- Open the console with §, backtick or tilde; try an English keyboard layout or a rebind if the key does not respond.
- Run
r.Fog 0and press Enter to remove world-map fog. - Inspect the scene for weather haze rather than assuming the command failed.
- Set Options > Video > Advanced > Fog Density to 0, or choose a lower tenth, when cosmetic weather fog remains.
- Use Post Processing only when changing several post-processing effects together is acceptable.
- Remember that the console toggle resets after closing the game to desktop.
- Use
r.Fog 1whenever you want to restore world-map fog during the current session.
