Which drone do you mean?
Breakpoint has two different tools players may call a drone. The regular recon drone is a player-controlled scouting tool. The Sync Shot Drone is a separate consumable used for coordinated takedowns; it is not how you launch the recon drone.

Default controls for the recon drone

These default mappings are documented in Shacknews’ September 30, 2019 control guide. Breakpoint supports remapped inputs, so check your current in-game control bindings if the listed button does not work. You can also adjust drone sensitivity and acceleration in the controls settings, as described in Ubisoft’s accessibility announcement.
How to scout with the drone
- Get to a safe position. Move behind cover or go prone if enemies might see you. Ubisoft cautions that your character is vulnerable while operating the drone.
- Deploy it. Hold Up on the D-pad with a default PlayStation or Xbox controller, or press X on the default PC keyboard layout. If you changed your controls, use the remapped binding.
- Look over the area. Use the drone to scout enemy patrols and spot threats before advancing.
- Return to your character and use what you learned. The available guidance does not establish one universal return button for every control scheme; follow the on-screen prompt or check your current binding.
Ubisoft’s Breakpoint beta survival tips recommend scouting with the flying drone and warn about vulnerability while doing so.

If you do not have the recon drone
Ubisoft’s early-game guidance says to speak with Holt in Erewhon to get the recon drone. That pointer comes from launch-era survival tips and does not cover every current progression or unlock situation. If Holt’s instructions do not match your game, follow the tutorial and mission prompts shown in your current playthrough.

The Sync Shot Drone is an inventory consumable, not the scouting drone controlled with Up or X. Ubisoft says Sync Shot Drones can be crafted at a bivouac and assigned to the quick-access item wheel. The cited official guidance does not provide the full target-marking and activation sequence, so use the in-game prompts for that item rather than treating it as the recon drone.
