Before publishing, check that its pages fit your purpose, replace generic copy with verified details, make the design consistent, and inspect the experience on desktop and mobile. The exact controls vary by platform, so the steps below separate general checks from documented WordPress.com and Wix workflows.
1. Audit the draft before editing
Start with the site’s goal and intended audience. Review every page and section, and ask whether it helps a visitor understand what you offer and what to do next. Flag inaccurate business details, generic claims, irrelevant sections, missing information, and calls to action that do not match your actual process.

- Confirm the site’s purpose and audience.
- Check page names, navigation, and the order of information.
- Mark claims, contact details, services, prices, locations, and policies that need verification.
- Decide what the primary visitor action should be, such as contacting you, booking, or learning more.
On WordPress.com, the AI build workflow includes a site brief and proposed pages that you can review before generation. Wix’s guidance recommends describing the site’s purpose, audience, desired pages or sections, style, and key features when creating a site with AI. WordPress.com’s AI build guide and Wix Harmony’s AI site guide explain those platform-specific starting points.
2. Fix the structure and page flow
Make structural decisions before fine-tuning colors or spacing. Add pages visitors need, remove sections that do not serve the site’s purpose, and put the most important information where people can find it without hunting. A small business might need a clear service explanation and contact route; a portfolio may need project examples and an about page. Choose pages based on the real project rather than accepting the generated outline by default.

WordPress.com documents adding, removing, and reordering sections in its design workflow. Wix’s AI-generated site guidance describes changing the site structure and layout. The names and locations of controls depend on which editor you are using, so follow the help guide for that editor rather than assuming one platform’s steps apply to another.
3. Set the visual direction across the site
Once the structure is sound, choose a restrained palette and typography direction, then apply them consistently. Make global changes first; adjust individual elements only where the page needs a deliberate exception. Check that text remains easy to read against its background, buttons look clickable, and headings and body text are visually distinct.
WordPress.com’s design guide documents changing the overall color palette, editing the color of a selected element, adding sections, and moving them. Wix describes adjusting themes, fonts, colors, structure, and layout in its AI design flows. These are different editor workflows, not interchangeable instructions. See WordPress.com’s AI site design guide or the relevant Wix Editor guide.

4. Replace generic copy with accurate information
Rewrite generated text so it describes the actual offer, audience, location, policies, and next step. Verify every factual claim, including contact details and service descriptions. If the editor offers AI-assisted revisions, use a precise request—for example, ask it to shorten a paragraph for a specific audience without changing the facts—then review the result yourself. Wix cautions that Aria can produce unexpected or inaccurate results; WordPress.com supports manual editing alongside AI-assisted changes.
Do not publish claims simply because they sound polished. Keep promises, prices, availability, credentials, and guarantees aligned with what you can actually provide. For platform editing options, consult Wix Harmony’s guide and WordPress.com’s design guide.
5. Choose imagery that represents the real site
Replace images that are irrelevant, misleading, or merely decorative when a more useful visual would help explain the page. Match each image to its purpose, and check that crops still make sense at different screen widths. Make sure you have the rights to use the images. If an AI-generated image could be mistaken for a real person, product, or place, do not present it as a photograph of the real thing.

6. Check the site at desktop and mobile widths
Preview the pages at more than one screen size. This is a practical review checklist, not a claim that any particular platform or site has been independently tested. At each size, check:

- Headings, paragraphs, and buttons remain legible and do not overlap.
- Forms and calls to action are easy to find and use.
- Spacing, image crops, and reading order still make sense.
Wix describes responsive editing capabilities, but the cited platform material does not establish how a particular generated site will behave. Inspect your own pages in the editor’s preview and, where possible, on a real phone.
7. Preview the visitor journey before publishing
Use the preview to follow the same route a visitor would take. Click through the navigation and calls to action, check that links lead to the intended destinations, and confirm contact details and domain behavior. If a form needs testing, use a safe test path that will not trigger an unintended booking, payment, or message to a real customer. These are checks for you to perform; they are not results of a test performed for this guide.

8. Confirm platform and plan limits
Editing options, template flexibility, and plan requirements differ. Check current terms with the platform before making a purchase or relying on a particular publishing feature.
| Platform | Documented editing and limits | Plan information in the cited guidance |

| WordPress.com | The AI build workflow includes a site brief and pages to review; the design guide documents AI and manual editing, palette and element-color changes, adding sections, and reordering them. The platform also describes AI help for text, tone, images, block styles, palettes, and pages. Build guide · Design guide · AI features | The support guide says the AI website builder is available on paid plans. Check current plan terms directly. |
| Wix | The editor guidance describes design, theme, and layout changes, but says an AI-generated site cannot be switched to a different template. Wix Harmony describes continued AI editing and manual changes, and warns that AI output may be unexpected or inaccurate. Editor guide · Harmony guide | Wix says custom domains and some additional features require a Premium plan. Check current plan terms directly. |
For WordPress.com’s workflow, see the AI website builder guide and design guide. For Wix, first identify whether you are using the Wix Editor or Wix Harmony, then use the matching Editor or Harmony instructions. Wix’s AI website builder page describes its builder and plan-dependent features.

9. Publish, then keep the site current
Publish only after the content, visitor journey, and access requirements have been checked. After launch, revisit the site when your services, contact details, policies, domain, or platform controls change. WordPress.com states: “You can continue to update, edit, and add content to your website both with AI and by manually editing.” WordPress.com Support
