To create a training video with an AI avatar, start with an approved learning objective and source material, turn it into concise narration, map the narration to scenes, choose a presenter and visuals, generate a draft, and review it before publishing. The avatar is only one production choice: slides, diagrams, captions, and screen recordings may explain a task better than a presenter on screen.
1. Define what learners should be able to do
Write one observable outcome for the lesson. For example, specify that learners should be able to complete a particular task or explain a policy—not simply “understand the topic.” Use the current approved document as the source of truth for policies and onboarding. For procedural training, gather the approved steps and the screenshots or screen recording that show them. A video generator should not be asked to invent policy details.

2. Turn the source into spoken narration
Start from the approved material, then rewrite it for listening rather than copying document prose onto slides. HeyGen describes workflows that use existing training material, and Colossyan describes starting with training content as well. HeyGen’s AI Training Video Creator and Colossyan outline those vendor-supported approaches.
- Keep sentences concise and give each scene one main point.
- Explain unfamiliar terms and add transitions where learners need to follow a sequence.
- Check every number, product name, policy statement, and instruction against the approved source.
Treat generated or rewritten text as a draft. Vendor feature descriptions do not establish that generated content is accurate.

3. Plan scenes and choose the presenter
Break the narration into scenes and decide what each one needs: an avatar speaking, a slide, a process visual, or a demonstration. Choose a stock or custom presenter and a voice appropriate to the audience and subject. These are separate decisions; an avatar need not appear in every scene.
For software training, showing the real interface in a screen recording may be more useful than describing each click with an avatar. HeyGen describes a screen-recording feature that can produce narration, captions, and chapters: HeyGen’s AI Screen Recorder. Vendor pages describe available capabilities, but do not independently establish that one avatar style is more realistic or improves learning.

4. Generate a draft and review it scene by scene
After generation, inspect the whole video rather than relying on a quick preview. Check the narration against the source, and verify that the visuals actually show the described step.

- Listen for pronunciation errors and compare captions with the audio.
- Check that on-screen text is legible and each scene matches the narration.
- Replace any generated visual that misrepresents a process or could confuse learners.
Correct the script, timing, or visuals and generate another draft as needed. The software can assemble a video; responsibility for reviewing its instructional content remains with the course owner.

5. Add interaction only when the objective calls for it
A short quiz can check recall, while branching choices or an interactive roleplay may suit decision practice. HeyGen describes quizzes and branching, and Synthesia describes interactive avatar roleplays: HeyGen’s learning and development page and Synthesia’s learning and development page. Choose interaction to support a specific practice or check—not simply because a platform offers it. The cited vendor pages do not establish that adding these features by itself improves learning outcomes.
6. Localize and prepare the video for delivery
Identify the languages your audience needs, translate the script, and have a competent reviewer check terminology and captions. A platform’s advertised language count does not establish translation quality or suitability for a particular dialect.

Choose the delivery format based on the destination: a downloadable video may be enough for a media library, while a course platform may require interactive content or SCORM packaging. Colossyan describes video export, interactive course publishing, and SCORM delivery on its product site. Confirm current plan support and compatibility with your LMS before committing to a workflow.

How to choose an AI avatar training-video platform
Compare tools against the content you need to create and the way learners will receive it. Check current feature availability, since vendor offerings, plan limits, integrations, and pricing can change.

Vendor feature pages are useful for identifying stated capabilities, but they do not establish comparative ease of use, instructional effectiveness, translation quality, or cost savings. Verify the specific features and data-handling terms for the plan you intend to use.
