Auto-label work emails from a domain
Match @yourcompany.com in the From field (or use “contains” if exact domain matching isn’t available). Apply a label like Work and optionally mark as read.

Filters are meant to evolve. Once you learn what matches well (and what doesn’t), you’ll likely adjust criteria and actions.
- Go back to Settings → More Settings → Filters.
- Find your filter in the list.
- To modify it, click Edit (pencil icon) if available.

Spam, bulk, and blocked mail differences
Messages classified as spam or bulk may bypass some actions you expect—or they may land in special categories before filters finalize. If a filter “doesn’t work,” test with a non-spam message from the same sender.
Also ensure your destination folder isn’t being overridden by spam controls.
Character spacing, punctuation, and case sensitivity
Some match modes treat “contains” more forgivingly than exact matching. If your value includes punctuation (like # or -), confirm the keyword exactly as it appears in the email.

If your filter isn’t doing anything, isolate the problem. You want to confirm the match condition first, then the action, then the timing.
Your filter saves but never triggers
- Verify the filter is enabled (not disabled/paused).
- Re-check criteria fields (From vs Subject vs To).
- Send a brand-new matching test email (not one already in the mailbox).
- Make the match more specific and then re-test (for example, use the exact sender address, not just a keyword).
Emails are moving to the wrong folder
- Check if another filter also matches the same email.
- Confirm the destination folder name in the action dropdown.
- Temporarily disable other filters related to similar criteria and test again.
Messages aren’t being labeled or marked
- Confirm the action is selected (some UIs allow multiple actions, and you may have only chosen “move”).
- Try a simpler action (like moving to a folder) to confirm the filter triggers first.
- Then re-enable the label/mark actions.
You don’t see the Filters option in settings
This is usually a UI difference, permissions edge, or a layout change. If you can’t find filters on mobile, use the web settings route.
