How to Create a Screenshot-Based Local SEO Report for Indian Clients

A practical workflow for reporting local SEO progress to Indian clients: collect verified Business Profile metrics, separate website and third-party rank data, and caption screenshots with their source and location context.

A useful screenshot-based local SEO report pairs Google Business Profile performance data with clearly labelled evidence of Maps visibility, website activity and completed work. Keep the sources separate: Google reports profile interactions, not local rank positions. For Indian clients, tailor the report to the actual city or service area, branches, queries, language and business goals; the available guidance does not establish a special India-only report format.

What to include in a local SEO report for a client

Build the report so a client can see what was measured, where the evidence came from, what changed during the period and what happens next. Set a consistent reporting period and retain the underlying evidence for each location.

  • Scope: client and business name, branch or service area, target queries, report period and outcomes that matter to the business.
  • Google Business Profile performance: the available discovery and interaction metrics, with the date range and profile identified.
  • Website evidence: relevant local traffic and conversions from the website analytics or search platform, labelled as a separate source.
  • Local visibility observations: third-party Maps rank observations, if collected, with query, provider, sampled area or grid and observation date.
  • Work and interpretation: completed tasks, what the evidence suggests, unresolved issues and specific next actions.

When reporting on several locations, show a client-level summary only alongside a way to distinguish the branches. A combined total can conceal materially different results between locations.

Collect Google Business Profile metrics

Access and export the data

Google states that “Performance data is available only for verified Business Profiles.” A user must sign in to the Google Account associated with the profile. In Business Profile, open Performance, choose the reporting date range, review the metrics available for that business and export the data. Google supports spreadsheet downloads and multi-profile exports for comparison. See Google’s guide to understanding Business Profile performance for current access and export details.

Label the metrics accurately

Depending on the business and eligibility, performance reporting can include searches and search terms, views, interactions, calls, website clicks, directions, messages, bookings, products, menus and offers. The list is not universal: report only metrics the profile actually provides. Google’s definitions and availability notes are in its Business Profile performance documentation.

Do not describe profile views as total exposure. Google applies unique-user-style counting and documented deduplication rules. Also distinguish Business Profile searches from website search impressions or other search-platform metrics; similar labels do not make them the same measurement.

Account for search-term reporting lag

Google says search terms refresh at the start of the month and can take up to five days to appear. A newly started reporting period may therefore have incomplete search-term data. Note the extraction date and avoid treating a missing or not-yet-updated term as proof that nobody searched for it.

Show Maps visibility without calling it a Google metric

Google Business Profile performance reporting and the Performance API do not provide a local rank-position metric. If you include a Maps position, identify it as a third-party observation, not a Google Business Profile result. Google’s Performance API documentation describes the API’s performance data; it does not turn third-party rank observations into a Google-reported position.

Local results vary with the searcher’s location. A single search from one point can hide neighborhood-level differences, so a geo-grid or other geographically distributed sample can be more informative than one reported rank. For every rank screenshot or export, caption:

  • the rank-tracking provider;
  • the exact query and business or branch;
  • the grid, sampled coordinates or area represented;
  • the observation date; and
  • any settings that materially define the sample.

Compare like with like across periods: same query, branch, provider, grid or sampled area, and reporting cadence where possible. If the coverage or method changed, say so; a changed sample is not a clean before-and-after comparison. Practitioner guidance discusses geo-grid interpretation and reporting, but it is not a Google standard; see ReportsMate’s local SEO reporting guidance and BrightLocal’s explanation of local search grids.

Pair profile results with website evidence

Website traffic and conversions can add useful context to profile engagement, but treat them as a separate evidence stream. State the analytics or search platform, date range, relevant location or landing page, and the metric definition. Do not combine website search metrics with Business Profile searches or imply that one platform supplied the other’s numbers.

Choose website measures that connect to the client’s goals—for example, relevant local landing-page activity or tracked lead actions—only where the data is available and the measurement is defined. Practitioner reporting guidance commonly considers website activity alongside profile engagement, reviews and citation health; include only categories that fit this client. See GBP Rank Tracker’s reporting guidance for practitioner examples.

Make screenshots useful and auditable

A screenshot should let the client identify the source, period and point being demonstrated. Capture the relevant source interface with the date range and query or metric visible; for a rank observation, retain the location or grid context as well. Caption each image with its source, reporting period and what it demonstrates. These are practical reporting choices, not formal Google requirements.

  • Use readable captures; crop irrelevant interface areas without removing context needed to interpret the result.
  • Keep each branch identifiable in the image or caption.
  • Do not expose unrelated account details or personal information.
  • Keep original exports or evidence alongside polished report images so figures can be checked later.
  • Use consistent capture and labelling conventions from one reporting period to the next.

For repeatable captures of dashboards or report pages, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can capture a page as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF; cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets can be removed before capture. Learn more at ScreenshotNeo.

Turn the evidence into a client decision

Start with a brief plain-English account of the period, then connect the evidence to work and next steps rather than presenting screenshots without interpretation. A practical report sequence is:

  1. Period and scope: state the dates, business locations, queries and outcomes covered.
  2. What changed: describe profile interactions, website evidence and third-party visibility observations in their respective sections.
  3. What was done: list completed work relevant to the measurements.
  4. What the evidence suggests: explain likely meaning while distinguishing observation from inference.
  5. What happens next: assign a short list of actions, owners and a review point.

Monthly reporting is a reasonable default in current practitioner guidance, while shorter updates may suit an early implementation period with substantial work underway. This is a cadence recommendation, not a Google requirement. Agree the rhythm with the client and keep date ranges comparable.

Or skip the browser setup

For a webpage you need to include as evidence, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot with one request. Replace the example URL with the page you want to capture; use your own API key. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information and capture PDFs. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Common reporting mistakes to avoid

  • Presenting a geo-grid position as Google data: label the rank tracker and sampling method; Google’s profile performance report does not report local rank positions.
  • Comparing unlike samples: a different query, grid, branch, period or provider can explain a difference independently of SEO work.
  • Calling views total exposure: use Google’s metric label and definitions rather than implying every exposure was counted.
  • Mixing platforms: keep profile, website and third-party rank data visibly distinct.
  • Overreading incomplete search terms: allow for Google’s monthly refresh and possible five-day delay.
  • Overloading the report: include only metrics and work categories relevant to the client’s goals and available evidence.

Choosing a way to measure local visibility

Google’s first-party engagement metrics and third-party rank observations answer different questions. A geo-grid can make location variation visible, but its usefulness depends on repeatable sampling, clear labels and coverage of the client’s actual service area. When evaluating reporting tools, compare query and location coverage, repeatability of grid points, screenshot or export support, multi-client workflow and whether results can be clearly identified as third-party measurements. Local Falcon, BrightLocal, Whitespark and Places Scout are examples mentioned in practitioner guidance; their current features, pricing and India availability are not established here. For screenshot capture specifically, ScreenshotNeo is a practical option: clean shots with consent and popup cleanup, and only clean shots billed.
