What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Lovable can turn a plain-language description into a portfolio website, then let you refine the result in chat or edit its code directly. A useful portfolio still depends on your project choices, writing, visuals, and careful checks. This guide walks through the process without assuming that a generated site is ready to publish as-is.
Decide what your portfolio should do
Before opening the builder, identify who should use the site and what you want them to understand or do. A hiring manager, prospective client, and creative collaborator may need different evidence. Choose a primary audience and a clear next step, such as viewing a case study or contacting you.

- Pick the work: Select a small set of projects that demonstrates the kind of work you want to be considered for.
- Define the story: For each project, note the problem, your role, the decisions you made, and the outcome. Include only claims you can support.
- Prepare the essentials: Gather a short biography, contact details, project text, image files, and any visual references you want the site to follow.
- Set practical limits: Decide whether you need a contact form, custom domain, or features beyond a mostly static showcase.
These choices are editorial work, not something a site generator can infer reliably from a vague prompt.

Lovable says its website builder can create portfolio layouts from plain-language descriptions, including typography and color treatments, and supports starting from a template. Its product page lists a “Dark Creative Portfolio” template with hover-reveal imagery and a parallax hero. Those are vendor-described capabilities, not a guarantee that a generated design will suit your work.

Describe the audience, content, structure, and desired visual direction. For example:
Build a portfolio for a [profession] aimed at [audience]. Include a home page with a short introduction, selected projects, an about section, and a clear contact route. Create a separate page for each project using the supplied text and images. Use [visual direction] with readable typography, responsive layouts, and restrained motion. Do not invent project details or results.
Replace every bracketed phrase with your actual information before using the prompt. Ask for the sections and pages you need; do not expect the first result to settle your content or design decisions.

Inspect the generated pages and refine them
Lovable describes its workflow as prompting, inspecting pages and navigation, refining the design, and publishing. It says you can adjust layouts and copy through chat or edit code directly for more precise changes. Treat each generated page as a draft: check whether the hierarchy makes your work easy to understand and whether the site reflects your intended audience.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Review the structure: Open every page and follow the navigation. Confirm that project links, back-to-home routes, and contact paths lead where expected.
- Correct the content: Replace generic copy and verify names, roles, dates, descriptions, and outcomes. Remove claims or filler that you cannot substantiate.
- Improve the presentation: Ask for focused changes to spacing, contrast, typography, image cropping, or page order. Make one meaningful change at a time so you can judge its effect.
- Use code editing when appropriate: If a visual detail needs exact control, Lovable says you can edit the code directly. Review unfamiliar changes before relying on them.
- Recover carefully: Lovable Academy recommends using version reversion and logs when something goes wrong and describes an automatic “Try to fix” action for build errors. These are recovery options, not a guarantee that every error will be resolved or that no work will be lost.
Check the portfolio before you publish
A polished preview is not proof that the site works for visitors. Test the actual pages, links, and behavior, especially anything that sends or stores information.

- Projects and navigation: Open each project from the home page and verify all internal and external links.
- Images: Check that the correct files load, crops preserve important details, and imagery remains legible at narrow widths.
- Mobile layout: Preview the site at phone-sized widths. Look for clipped text, awkward stacking, hard-to-tap controls, and excessive motion.
- Contact route: Submit a test if you use a form and confirm where the message goes. Lovable says websites support forms, but that does not establish that a particular form is configured correctly.
- Accessibility basics: Check text contrast, keyboard navigation, visible focus, meaningful link labels, and alternative text for informative images.
- Page metadata: Review page titles and descriptions so they describe the right page rather than repeating generic defaults.
Choose a publishing address and domain
Lovable says a site can be published on a Lovable subdomain or connected to a custom domain, with hosting and SSL handled by the platform. A subdomain is a direct route to publication; a custom domain can provide a consistent address for your portfolio. Follow Lovable’s current publishing and domain setup flow, then open the live URL yourself and repeat the functional checks on the published site.

Lovable says projects can sync with GitHub and that developers can continue working with the code. This can be useful if you want a repository-based workflow or expect another developer to maintain the site. Lovable’s pricing FAQ says users own their websites, code, customer data, and generated AI output, subject to third-party rights in the underlying AI models. That statement does not by itself promise a frictionless move away from platform services; consider any hosting or integrations your site relies on before planning a handoff.

Understand credits, hosting, and search features
Lovable’s pricing page, as checked on October 7, 2026, says the free plan includes a daily grant of five build credits, up to 30 per month, plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits and four credits for AI features in apps. Paid plans also include plan credits and describe daily build and monthly Cloud grants; some regional plans cap daily grants at 30 per month. Terms can change, so confirm the current plan details before building. Lovable says hosting for smaller or new apps is often covered by included grants, while significant traffic or app size can lead to extra usage costs.
For a simple portfolio, database, authentication, storage, real-time features, payments, or workflow integrations may be unnecessary. Lovable’s use-case page describes Supabase-backed capabilities and payment and automation integrations for more complex sites; add them only if your actual use case calls for them.
Lovable says its websites include page titles, meta descriptions, Open Graph tags, sitemaps, robots.txt, and server-side rendered HTML for search crawlers. These are search-readiness features, not a promise of rankings, visitors, or job offers. A portfolio’s usefulness still depends on the quality and relevance of its work and information.
