Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →You need three pieces: a Schedule by Zapier trigger set to Every Day, a screenshot action, and a Google Sheets “Create Spreadsheet Row” action that writes the date, the page URL and a reference to the screenshot. Zapier publishes a template for this exact shape, “Capture daily webpage data, take screenshot, and log URL in Google Sheets”, built from Schedule, Web Parser by Zapier, ScreenshotOne and Google Sheets. This guide builds that workflow step by step, covers the GetScreenshot alternative, and explains the part most tutorials skip: what actually ends up in the cell, and whether it still exists next month.
What the finished report looks like
One row per page per day. A workable layout:
| Column | Contains | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Captured at | Date and time of the run | Zap trigger or Zapier’s date/time fields |
| Page URL | The page that was captured | Typed into the Zap, or from the template’s page step |
| Screenshot | A link to the image, or an image preview | Output of the screenshot step (see “What to store”) |
| Status / Notes | Anything you want to flag by hand or by Zap | Optional |
These columns are a recommendation, not fields Zapier prescribes. The final names should match what your screenshot action really returns.

Step 1: Prepare the Google Sheet
- Create a new spreadsheet and name the tab something stable, such as Daily captures.
- Type descriptive column names in row 1 only. Zapier’s Google Sheets guidance says multiple header rows are not recognized.
- Do not leave blank rows between populated rows; Zapier advises against it, and blank gaps can confuse where new rows land.
- Avoid renaming columns once the Zap is built. If you must, reopen the Sheets step and re-select the fields, since mappings are tied to the headers Zapier read.
Step 2: Set the daily trigger
- In Zapier, choose Create Zap and pick Schedule by Zapier as the trigger app.
- Select the Every Day event.
- Set the time of day and choose whether the Zap should also run on weekends.
- Run the trigger test before configuring later steps.
Treat the time as “around this time”, not an exact-second guarantee; Zapier’s documentation does not promise to-the-second execution. If the report compares like with like, pick an hour when the site is quiet and not mid-deployment.
Step 3: Choose the screenshot step
Option A: start from Zapier’s template
The quickest route is the template above. Its apps are Schedule, Web Parser by Zapier, ScreenshotOne and Google Sheets. Open it, connect your accounts, replace the example page with your own, and then edit the Sheets step so its columns match yours. You need a ScreenshotOne account for this path.
#1 Best Overall
- 1 ream (500 sheets) of 8.5 x 11 white copier and printer paper for home or office use
- Multipurpose letter size copy paper works with laser/inkjet printers, copiers and fax machines
- Smooth 20lb weight paper for consistent ink and toner distribution; dries quickly and resists paper jams
- Bright white paper (92 GE; 104 Euro) offers great contrast for crisp printing and vivid color
- Virgin copy paper providing professional quality results; acid-free to prevent yellowing
Option B: GetScreenshot
GetScreenshot documents a website screenshot action in Zapier that hands its result to a later step. Its integration listing notes that a Starter plan is required to build Zaps with three or more steps. A schedule, screenshot and Sheets Zap has exactly three, so check that requirement against your own Zapier plan in the account before you build.
Settings worth deciding
The Zapier integrations for these services expose controls such as full-page capture, width or viewport size, and a delay or wait before capture. ScreenshotOne also lists wait-condition options. Decide each against your target page:
Rank #2
- HP Papers is sourced from renewable forest resources and has achieved production with 0% deforestation in North America. Each ream is wrapped in a polyurethane coated paper wrapper to protect the cut sheets from moisture damage
- Sheet size – 8.5 x 11; Thickness – 20 pounds; Brightness – 92 bright white
- HP Copy&Print20 20 pounds printer paper is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and contributes toward satisfying credit MR1 under LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
- All HP Papers provide premium performance on HP equipment, as well as on all other printer and copier equipment; 100% satisfaction guaranteed; ColorLok technology provides more vivid colors, bolder blacks and faster drying
- Superior quality, reliability, and dependability for high-volume printing at home, at school and in the office; HP Copy&Print20 print and copy paper prevents yellowing over time to ensure a long-lasting appearance for added archival quality
- Full page vs. viewport: full page for a landing page whose lower sections change; viewport if you only care about what is above the fold.
- Width: pick one width and keep it. Changing it between days makes layouts look different when nothing changed.
- Delay or wait: add one if content loads after the page does, such as lazy images, sliders or personalised banners.
Step 4: Map the output into Google Sheets
- Add Google Sheets as the next action and choose Create Spreadsheet Row.
- Pick your spreadsheet and the Daily captures worksheet.
- Zapier loads your row-1 headers as fields. Map Captured at from the trigger’s date/time data, Page URL from the URL you configured, and Screenshot from the output the screenshot step shows in the data picker.
- Test the action, then check that a new row appeared where you expect.
- Publish the Zap.
Field labels differ between apps, so pick what your connected account shows rather than looking for a fixed name.

What to store: a link, an image, or a file?
This is the weak point of most “screenshots in Sheets” setups. A cell holding a URL is only a record if that URL keeps returning that day’s image. Two cases:
Rank #3
- 3 ream case (1,500 sheets) of 8.5 x 11 white copier and printer paper for home or office use
- Multipurpose letter size copy paper works with laser/inkjet printers, copiers and fax machines
- Smooth 20lb weight paper for consistent ink and toner distribution; dries quickly and resists paper jams
- Bright white paper (92 GE; 104 Euro) offers great contrast for crisp printing and vivid color
- Virgin copy paper providing professional quality results; acid-free to prevent yellowing
- The service hosts the image at a stable link. Storing the link is enough, for as long as the provider keeps the file. Check the provider’s retention terms.
- The link regenerates the screenshot on request. Opening it next week shows the page as it is next week, not as it was. For a true history, save the file somewhere you control (for example Google Drive via a Zapier upload step, which can take a file or a URL) and log that link instead.
To preview the image inside the cell, Google Sheets’ =IMAGE("url") formula works with a direct, publicly reachable image URL. It re-fetches the image, so it shares the same retention caveat.
Step 5: Test on real pages before relying on it
- Run the Zap manually on two or three representative pages, not just a simple one.
- Open the saved link and confirm it shows the whole page, or the section you expected.
- Look for cookie banners, chat widgets and newsletter popups covering content. They are the usual reason a daily capture is useless for comparison.
- Check the next scheduled run, not just the manual test, and confirm the row was added.
Also confirm your Zapier plan’s task allowance covers the number of runs: every page you capture daily adds tasks every day, and Zapier and the screenshot provider each bill by their own rules.
Rank #4
- 5 ream case (2,500 sheets) of 8.5 x 11 white copier and printer paper for home or office use
- Multipurpose letter size copy paper works with laser/inkjet printers, copiers and fax machines
- Smooth 20lb weight paper for consistent ink and toner distribution; dries quickly and resists paper jams
- Bright white paper (92 GE; 104 Euro) offers great contrast for crisp printing and vivid color
- Virgin copy paper providing professional quality results; acid-free to prevent yellowing
Or skip the browser setup: ScreenshotNeo
ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API that returns an image from one GET request, so it slots into a Zap through Webhooks by Zapier (a GET request) without a dedicated app. Full parameter reference is in the ScreenshotNeo docs. The call:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchescURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
In Zapier, the same request becomes the action URL (with access_key and url as query parameters). Because the response is the image itself, the practical pattern is: Webhooks GET builds and calls the request, then a Google Drive upload step stores the file, and the Sheets step logs the Drive link. If you would rather have a link to paste into an =IMAGE() cell without exposing your key, ScreenshotNeo supports signed links for public image tags; the docs explain how to generate them. Full-page capture, waiting for a selector or delay, dark mode, device presets and a caching TTL you choose are all options on the same call.

Why it suits a daily report:
- Clean shots: before the capture it accepts the cookie banner like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets (each step can be turned off), so day-to-day differences are the page, not the overlays.
- Only clean shots are billed: bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and the
X-Page-VerdictandX-Billedresponse headers say which one you got. A daily job that hits a blocked day does not charge you for a useless image. - AI agents: an MCP server (tools
take_screenshot,get_page_info,capture_pdf) lets Claude, Cursor or any MCP client take screenshots too. - Price: 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 (Starter), then $15 for 15,000, $39 for 60,000, $99 for 250,000 and $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is on every plan.
A handful of daily pages stays well inside the free tier. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account (1,000 screenshots a month, no card) and paste your key into the Webhooks step.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Zap never runs | Zap is off, or weekends are excluded and you are checking on a weekend | Turn the Zap on; review the Every Day weekend setting. |
| Row lands in the wrong place or fields are missing | Multiple header rows, blank rows, or renamed columns | Keep one header row, remove gaps, then reload the fields in the Sheets step. |
| Screenshot shows a half-loaded page | Content loads after the page | Add a delay or wait condition in the screenshot step and re-test. |
| Only the top of the page appears | Viewport mode | Turn on full-page capture. |
| Old link shows today’s page, not that day’s | The link regenerates the capture | Save the file to Drive and log that link. |
| Cookie banner or chat widget covers content | Overlay captured as part of the page | Use a service that removes overlays, or hide the element with custom CSS where supported. |
| Cell shows text, not a picture | A plain URL does not render | Use =IMAGE() with a direct, public image URL. |
| Zap can’t be saved with three steps | Plan limit on multi-step Zaps (noted in GetScreenshot’s listing) | Check your current Zapier plan in the account. |
Scaling beyond a few pages
For several pages, you can duplicate the Zap per page, or keep a list of URLs in a sheet and loop over it with Zapier’s looping tools. Each page-day costs Zapier tasks plus a screenshot, so multiply before you commit. For very large lists, an API with bulk capture (ScreenshotNeo accepts 100 URLs per call) run from a script may be simpler than many Zaps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the screenshot appear inside the Google Sheets cell?
Yes, if you have a direct, publicly reachable image URL, wrap it in =IMAGE(“url”) in the cell. A normal URL pasted into a cell shows as a link only.
Do I need a paid Zapier plan?
It depends on your current plan. GetScreenshot’s listing says Zaps with three or more steps need a Starter plan, so confirm against your own account.
Will the Zap run at an exact time?
Pick the hour in Schedule by Zapier, but don’t rely on an exact second.
