How to Create a Continuous YouTube Livestream With a Browser-Based Service

A browser studio is for an attended live show; a cloud service is for looping prerecorded video. Choose the workflow that matches your goal, test it, and account for YouTube’s archive and policy limits.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

First decide what “continuous” means: a browser studio such as Restream Studio is for a person to host and start a live broadcast from a camera or microphone; an always-on loop of prerecorded videos needs a cloud streaming service. For a hosted live show, prepare your channel and connection, configure the studio, test the broadcast, then start it. For a prerecorded loop that should keep running while your computer is off, use a cloud service built for that job.

Choose the right kind of continuous stream

What you want to stream Workflow What to expect
A live host, camera, microphone, scenes, or clips Use a browser live studio such as Restream Studio. You operate the studio and start the broadcast; your browser and upload connection are part of the live setup. Restream describes this workflow in its Studio guide.
Prerecorded videos repeating without someone tending a studio Use a cloud service that uploads videos, arranges a playlist, connects to YouTube, and sends the broadcast from the cloud. Gyre describes this model in its service materials; those are vendor claims, not independent performance findings. Check the provider’s current YouTube authorization steps and plan details before relying on automation.

A browser studio is not a hands-off 24/7 loop simply because it runs in a browser. If your goal is to loop prerecorded material while your own computer is off, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: it plays uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free.

Check YouTube access before you plan the launch

Make sure live streaming is enabled on the YouTube channel. Restream’s YouTube setup guidance says phone verification is required and first-time activation can take 24 hours. It also says the person connecting the channel must be its owner, not a manager or editor. Confirm both the activation status and channel-owner access before scheduling a broadcast. See Restream’s YouTube connection guidance.

Set up a live broadcast in Restream Studio

  1. Prepare a desktop browser. Restream recommends current Chrome. Allow browser access to your camera and microphone when prompted, and close applications or tabs that may compete for bandwidth or devices.
  2. Create the studio broadcast. In Restream, open Studio, create a new stream, and add YouTube under Channels. Set the title and description before going live. Prepare the scenes, graphics, and any clips you intend to use.
  3. Check the connection. Restream gives 10 Mbps upload as a minimum and recommends 25 Mbps or higher for Full HD. It recommends a wired connection for additional stability. These are Restream’s guidelines, not a guarantee for every network. See its internet-speed requirements.
  4. Test audio and motion. Confirm the correct camera and microphone are selected, check levels, and run a representative test before the real event. Watch YouTube’s stream health rather than assuming a successful studio preview means viewers receive a stable feed.
  5. Start the stream. When the channel, scenes, and audio are ready, click Go Live in Studio. Keep the browser session and a stable internet connection available while you are producing the broadcast.

Bitrate guidance for Studio

Restream says Studio adjusts bitrate automatically according to resolution. Its listed examples are 6 Mbps for 1080p30, 5 Mbps for 720p60, and 4 Mbps for 720p30. Treat these as Restream’s example settings, not universal guarantees of quality or requirements for every encoder. See Restream’s bitrate guidance.

If you use an external encoder

A browser studio does not require manual encoder settings, but if your workflow sends an encoder feed to YouTube, follow YouTube’s current live encoder recommendations: use RTMPS, constant bitrate, and a 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds), along with supported video and audio settings. Test with representative motion and audio, then monitor stream health during the event. Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings for supported settings and changes.

For a prerecorded 24/7 loop

In a cloud-loop workflow, you upload prerecorded files, arrange them into a playlist, connect the YouTube channel, and schedule or start the stream through the service. Gyre describes those steps as part of its cloud streaming offering; confirm its current plan, supported workflow, and YouTube authorization details directly with the vendor before depending on them. A cloud relay avoids keeping a local computer online, but it does not change YouTube’s content policies or replay limits.

Understand YouTube replay limits

YouTube Help states: “If your live stream is less than 12 hours long, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” It also warns a stream over 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” These are qualified outcomes, not a guarantee that every shorter broadcast will be saved or every longer one lost. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If the full replay matters, keep an independent recording or divide the broadcast into sessions. See YouTube’s archive guidance and YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Copyright and policy still apply

Use video and audio you have the rights to stream. YouTube may disable live streaming for copyright matches or other policy issues; looping content or routing it through a cloud service does not bypass those rules. Review YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions and check the rights for every item in a playlist before scheduling a long broadcast.

Common problems and fixes

  • YouTube is not available as a destination: Confirm live streaming is enabled, phone verification is complete, the activation wait has passed for a first stream, and the account connecting the channel is its owner.
  • Video or audio is missing in Studio: Check browser permissions and the selected camera or microphone, then reload the studio if the device is still unavailable.
  • Broadcast stutters or drops: Check upload capacity against Restream’s guidance, prefer wired networking, close competing network-heavy activity, and inspect YouTube stream health. A speed figure alone cannot guarantee an uninterrupted feed.
  • Encoder feed is unstable: Verify RTMPS, constant bitrate, supported audio/video settings, and a 2-second keyframe interval that does not exceed 4 seconds; run another test with motion and sound.
  • The full replay is missing: YouTube does not guarantee capture for streams over 12 hours, and even shorter streams are described as eligible to be archived rather than guaranteed. Preserve a separate recording or split the event if a complete replay is essential.
  • A loop is interrupted by a policy issue: Review copyright ownership and YouTube live restrictions; automation cannot make unlicensed material permissible.
