To run recorded CAT preparation classes around the clock, stream your lesson library to YouTube Live through an encoder. Verify and enable live streaming on your channel, schedule a broadcast in YouTube Studio, then connect an encoder such as OBS with YouTube’s server URL and stream key. You can do this with free software; paid hardware is optional. Plan monitoring and replay handling before launch, because YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, not longer broadcasts.
What you need before the first broadcast
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 and the channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it and test well before your planned launch.
- Recorded lessons you are entitled to use, arranged in a deliberate teaching sequence.
- An encoder and a reliable internet connection at the encoder location—or a cloud service if you do not want a computer at home to stay on.
- A person responsible for checking stream health, playback order, connectivity and chat.
There is no special India-only setup rule established for this workflow. The same YouTube Live process applies to an Indian CAT coaching channel.

Enable and verify livestreaming
Sign in to YouTube and follow the current channel verification and live-streaming activation prompts. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to enable a first livestream. Check the channel for any live-streaming restriction before announcing a launch; do not leave this check until broadcast day.

Organize lessons and check rights
Arrange classes in an order that makes sense to a student arriving at any time. Give lessons clear titles and publish a visible schedule so viewers can tell what is playing and what comes next. Keep the original lesson files as your source copies.

Permission to use material and eligibility for monetization are separate questions.
Choose how to send recorded classes to YouTube Live
| Option | What it is | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| OBS | Free, open-source encoder software listed by YouTube. | Flexible and inexpensive to start, but the computer running it and its internet connection must remain available for the stream. |
| AJA HELO Plus | A dedicated hardware option listed in YouTube’s encoder directory; its description includes scheduled prerecorded playout directly to YouTube Live without a computer. | A hardware route for operators who want scheduled playback without maintaining a PC. It is optional, and current price and India availability are not established here. |
YouTube does not require one particular encoder. The basic software route does not require a paid device. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and directory before choosing equipment.

Set up and start the livestream
- Open YouTube Studio: select Create → Go Live to open the Live Control Room. Create a broadcast or schedule it for a specific start time.
- Choose the broadcast details: add a clear title and description, set the audience and visibility appropriately, and communicate the class schedule. Use an unlisted test first if you need to check the setup without making the broadcast public.
- Copy the connection details: in the Live Control Room, obtain the YouTube server URL and stream key, then enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a public screenshot or tutorial. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- Configure the encoder: select the recorded lesson or playlist for playback, connect the encoder to YouTube using the server URL and key, and start the encoder when ready. Follow the encoder’s current instructions for its output settings; do not assume a setting applies equally to every file, connection or device.
- Check the preview before going public: confirm that the image is visible, audio is clear, the intended lesson is playing, and the broadcast has the correct visibility. Check that slides and question text are readable on a phone as well as a desktop.
- Start and monitor: begin the broadcast from the encoder and verify that YouTube receives it. During operation, monitor stream health, connectivity, lesson order and chat, and have a person who can respond to interruptions.
YouTube’s encoder guidance covers the Live Control Room connection workflow. Interface labels can change, so follow the current prompts shown in your account.

Do not rely on one broadcast to preserve a full-day archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise an automatic archive for a stream lasting 12 hours or longer. For a service intended to run all day, plan operational segments and retain the original lesson files so an interruption or missing replay does not leave you without the source material. Explain the schedule and any segment changes to viewers.

Choose horizontal or vertical with the lesson in mind
YouTube supports horizontal and vertical live streams. Horizontal streams support clickable links in chat and the channel description, as well as live pre-roll and mid-roll ads. Vertical streams may be discoverable in the Shorts feed, but do not support those clickable links or live pre-roll and mid-roll ads. For CAT teaching, where diagrams, equations and slides matter, test the crop and text legibility before choosing vertical or dual-format presentation. These format differences are described in YouTube’s live-streaming Help.
Copyright, reused content and monetization
Having permission to rebroadcast a lesson does not by itself make a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to livestreams and says repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible. Make the teaching contribution clear: give each class meaningful context, ensure lessons are distinct, and avoid simply looping identical material to accumulate viewing time. YouTube’s channel monetization policies state: “Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.” The page identifies an inauthentic-content policy clarification dated July 15, 2025.
Rank #4
YouTube’s current Partner Program Help page lists an ad-revenue eligibility path of 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the preceding 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. Unlisted, deleted, or livestreams not converted to video on demand do not count toward the 4,000-hour route. Reaching a threshold triggers review; it does not guarantee acceptance. The page also lists policy compliance and other account requirements. Check YouTube’s current eligibility page before relying on these thresholds, as platform requirements can change.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is not available yet | First-time activation is still processing, or the channel has a livestream restriction. | Enable the feature in advance, allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, and check the channel’s live-streaming eligibility and restriction status. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | The server URL or stream key is missing, incorrect or outdated. | Compare the encoder settings with the current details in the Live Control Room. Replace an exposed key before going live. |
| Preview appears, but the wrong class plays | The playlist order or selected source is wrong. | Stop before going public, correct the playback sequence, and check the preview again. |
| Audio is absent or slides are hard to read | The source file, encoder audio selection, crop or output presentation is unsuitable. | Test the exact lesson in preview, check audio and framing, and verify text on a phone-sized screen. |
| The broadcast disconnects | The encoder, local computer, network or upstream service has stopped delivering the feed. | Check the connection and encoder, restart the feed if needed, and confirm that YouTube is receiving it again. Keep original files and an operational contact available for recovery. |
| A long stream has no expected replay | The broadcast lasted 12 hours or longer, outside YouTube’s stated automatic-archive condition. | Use planned segments for archive handling and retain the original lesson files rather than relying on a single extended replay. |
| Monetization is rejected despite having permission | Copyright permission does not settle whether the channel meets originality and reused-content policies. | Review the channel-level monetization policies and make the instructional contribution and differences between lessons evident. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded recordings live; it is not a camera livestream tool. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the material, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams what you upload up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. In India, UPI and cards are accepted; card checkout is available worldwide. One slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery and StreamNeo team support. Plans have the same features; only the billing length changes.
