Before you build the OBS scene
Gather the media and lyrics
Prepare the bhajan audio or video and the lyrics you intend to display. Decide whether the lyrics will stay fixed for one item or need to change as a playlist advances. OBS can display text entered in the source or read from a text file, but the cited OBS guidance does not establish a way to synchronize lyric changes automatically with each track.

Confirm your music rights
Being devotional, traditional, or freely available online does not by itself establish that a particular recording or composition is cleared for a livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have necessary rights worldwide, including music licensing rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party material; detection can result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. If you have a license but Content ID identifies the material, ask the rights holder about allowlisting your channel. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and copyright guidance for live streams.

Add a background or bhajan media
In OBS, create or select a scene. Add an image, color, or media background. For one local audio or video file, add a Media Source and enable Loop. For a playlist, add VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for the VLC source; OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Media Sources guide.

Add a Text Source for the lyrics
Add a Text Source and either enter the lyrics directly or select the option to read them from a file. Choose a legible font, size, color, and alignment. Use an outline or background treatment if the text needs more contrast against moving or varied footage. Custom extents can help control where text wraps. OBS uses Text (GDI+) on Windows and Text (Freetype 2) on macOS and Linux; see the OBS Text Sources guide.

Put the lyric layer above the media
In the Sources list, move the text source above the media or background source. OBS draws higher sources over lower ones. Resize and position the lyrics, then inspect the scene in the preview to check that the words are readable and do not cover important imagery. Check the audio and scene before streaming
Play the media in OBS and confirm that the lyrics remain visible against the scene. Listen for the expected audio and verify that the selected media or playlist loops as intended. The cited guidance does not establish a universal resolution, bitrate, or keyframe interval for every computer and connection; do not treat an unverified setting as a guaranteed 24/7 configuration.

Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a secret: it is the credential OBS uses to send your feed, so do not share it publicly.

Check the YouTube preview before starting the stream. Follow YouTube’s workflow to start the encoder and go live, then verify the channel and watch pages. YouTube recommends checking from mobile devices, monitoring audio and video, and confirming that any local archive recording is growing. If you have a backup encoder, test failover rather than assuming it will work. These checks are operational guidance, not a promise of uninterrupted service; see YouTube’s live streaming tips.

Plan for a channel that is meant to stay live
A 24/7 channel is not the same as one guaranteed, uninterrupted YouTube session. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR, which lets viewers pause or rewind a live stream, may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. The threshold is a platform caveat, not a guaranteed hard stop. Check YouTube’s current archive guidance and DVR guidance.

- Use managed sessions if archives matter. Plan a restart or handoff before a session runs beyond the archive threshold. The cited guidance does not prescribe a best restart interval or a guaranteed automatic-restart setup.
- Keep a local recording when you need a complete copy. YouTube recommends a local archive as backup; check that the recording file is growing during operation.
- Monitor rather than assume. Check the live preview, channel and watch pages, and audio/video quality. A long-running OBS setup depends on the computer and connection remaining available; the cited sources do not establish an uptime guarantee or universal hardware requirements.
