Choose the control that matches what you want to do
Gemini has separate controls for delivery alerts and for the scheduled action itself. Use the device notification setting when the action should continue running but you do not want a phone alert. Use Scheduled actions when Gemini must stop generating the response.

Google’s official instructions are in Gemini Apps Help. The wording of menus can vary slightly by Android version, manufacturer interface and app version.
First confirm that you are using Scheduled actions
Gemini exposes another feature called Spark schedules. It has its own documentation and management surface, so instructions for Spark do not automatically apply to a regular scheduled action.

- Scheduled actions: Google documents a Scheduled actions settings page where you can pause, resume, edit or delete actions. Mobile alerts are controlled through the device’s Gemini notification category.

If your interface says “Scheduled actions,” follow the steps below. If it says “Spark” or “Schedules,” open the Spark task thread or Schedules page instead of looking for the Scheduled actions menu.
This distinction matters when troubleshooting. A missing Scheduled actions entry does not necessarily mean that notifications are broken; you might be looking at the Spark feature, a different Google Account, or an account that has not received scheduled actions yet.
Turn Gemini scheduled-action notifications off or on on Android
Android can expose Gemini as an unused notification category inside the Google app. Turning this category off prevents the mobile alert, but it does not cancel or pause the underlying action.

- Tap Notifications.
- Tap App notifications.
- Choose Google.
- Tap Show unused categories.
- Open Gemini.
- Turn all Gemini notifications on or off.
When the Gemini category is enabled, a scheduled-action response can produce a device notification when it is ready. When it is disabled, the action can still run and its result remains available in Gemini.
Android’s labels and layout are not identical on every phone. Some manufacturers place app notification categories behind an additional menu, while others show unused categories only after you expand the page. The documented path is the reliable starting point: enter the Google app’s notification settings, reveal unused categories, and select Gemini. Do not assume that switching off every Google notification is necessary if your goal is only scheduled-action alerts.
Android alternative route through the Google app
If the category is difficult to find in the main Settings app, Google documents an alternate path:
- Touch and hold the Google app icon.
- Tap App info.
- Tap Notifications.
- Reveal unused categories if that option is shown.
- Open Gemini and change its notification control.
Manufacturers can rename or rearrange these screens. Search Android Settings for “Google notifications,” “app notifications” or “Gemini” if a label is different. The important distinction is to open the Gemini notification category under the Google app, not to disable every notification from Google unless that is really what you intend.

If Android asks to enable alerts while you create an action
Google says Gemini may ask to turn notifications on when you create a scheduled action while notifications are disabled. Choose Turn on, then choose Allow in the Android permission prompt if you want an alert when the response is ready. You can later return to the Gemini category and turn the alerts off again without deleting the action.
If you choose not to allow the permission, the scheduled action is not automatically deleted. It can continue to run, but you should look for its result in Gemini rather than expecting a phone alert.

Turn Gemini scheduled-action notifications off or on on iPhone or iPad
On Apple devices, notification permission is managed in iOS or iPadOS Settings:
- Open Settings.
- Use the Settings search field and search for Gemini.
- Tap Gemini.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn Allow Notifications on or off.
With Allow Notifications off, Gemini cannot present the scheduled-action push alert on that iPhone or iPad. The scheduled action itself is not paused. Turn the permission back on if you want future ready notifications to appear again.
On an iPhone or iPad, this permission controls whether Gemini may notify that a response is ready. It is separate from the action’s schedule and prompt. If you need to stop the prompt from being processed, use Gemini’s Scheduled actions controls rather than this Apple setting.
What happens on the Gemini web app
Scheduled-action delivery behaves differently on the web. Google says that when a response is ready, Gemini marks the relevant chat as unread under Chats in the Gemini web app. This unread marker is not removed by switching off mobile notifications, because it is a web-app status rather than a phone permission.
Therefore, turning off push alerts does not make the result inaccessible. Sign in to the same Google Account on the web and check Chats for the unread scheduled-action conversation. Opening that conversation lets you read the prepared response even when no phone notification was displayed.
To manage a regular scheduled action on the web:
- Open the Gemini web app and sign in to the Google Account that owns the action.
- Open Settings & help.
- Select Scheduled actions.
- Choose the action you want to manage.
- Use the available control to pause, resume, edit or delete it.
If you only want to clear the indication that a response is waiting, open the unread chat under Chats. Do not delete the scheduled action unless you want to remove its future runs.
Pause, resume, edit or delete an action
Pause it without deleting it
Open Settings & help → Scheduled actions in Gemini, select the action and choose Pause. Google states that a paused action will not run until it is resumed. This is the correct control when you need to stop generation temporarily, not merely hide the alert.
Pausing is useful when an action should remain configured for later but must not execute during a break, trip or change in routine. Because the action is paused rather than deleted, you can return to the same list and restore it.
Resume a paused action
Return to the same Scheduled actions list, select the paused item and choose Resume. Resuming restores future runs; it does not retroactively generate responses for times during which the action was paused.

Edit its time or instructions
Open the action from Scheduled actions or its associated action chat and choose the edit control. Change the schedule or prompt, then save the change if Gemini presents a confirmation. Editing preserves the action, unlike deletion.

Delete it permanently
Choose Delete only when the action is no longer wanted. Turning off notifications is reversible and keeps the action; deleting removes the scheduled item instead.
Why you may not receive a notification
The phone permission is disabled
Check the Gemini notification category under the Google app on Android, or Gemini’s Notifications page on iPhone and iPad. Also check whether the operating system is suppressing alerts through a focus mode, Do Not Disturb setting, notification summary, lock-screen policy or battery-management rule. Those system features can affect when an allowed notification is displayed, and their names differ by device.
On Android, specifically confirm that the Gemini category is visible after you select Show unused categories. On Apple devices, confirm that Allow Notifications is enabled for Gemini rather than only allowing notifications for other apps.
The action was paused
An action that is paused will not run, so there is no new response to notify you about. Open Scheduled actions and check whether the item is paused before changing phone permissions.
You are checking the wrong surface
A mobile alert and a web unread marker are separate. If phone notifications are off, sign in to the Gemini web app and inspect Chats for the unread scheduled-action conversation.
The feature is not available to the account
Google says scheduled actions are being made available gradually to personal Google Accounts. Qualifying work or school Google Workspace accounts can also use them. Keep Activity must be turned on. If Scheduled actions is missing, verify that you are using the intended Google Account and that Keep Activity is enabled before treating the missing menu as a device fault.
Availability is account-based, so reinstalling the app or repeatedly changing notification permissions will not create the feature for an account that has not received access. First check eligibility, the account currently signed in, and Keep Activity.

The app or menu labels differ
Android manufacturers and operating-system releases can place notification categories in different locations. Use Settings search for the Google app’s notification settings, then reveal unused categories if Gemini is not immediately listed. On Apple devices, search Settings for Gemini rather than browsing every app manually.
Limits and timing that affect scheduled responses
Maximum number of active actions
Google’s Gemini Apps Help states: “You can have up to 10 active scheduled actions at a time.” Paused actions are not active, but Google’s help wording does not specify whether every account interface counts them identically. If you reach the limit, pause or delete an existing action before creating another.
This limit concerns active scheduled actions, not the number of notifications your phone can display. Changing notification permissions does not free an action slot because it leaves the scheduled item in place.
Responses may be prepared before the delivery time
Google says that, without a Google AI plan, preparation may happen up to several hours before delivery. With a Google AI plan, preparation occurs within the hour before delivery. This means a response can reflect information available when Gemini prepared it rather than information at the exact moment you read the notification.

Google specifically cautions that rapidly changing information, such as stock prices, may be stale when delivered. Scheduled actions are better suited to daily summaries, briefings and wrap-ups than to data that must be current to the minute. Notification settings do not change this preparation behavior.
A notification tells you that the prepared response is ready; it does not mean Gemini fetched every detail at the instant the alert appeared. For time-sensitive work, treat the scheduled response as a convenience and verify fast-changing facts separately.

If the wording on your screen does not match the steps in this guide, identify the feature first. Applying instructions for one feature to the other can make a control appear to be missing when it is simply located elsewhere.

- Only the alert is unwanted: disable Gemini notifications in Android or iOS settings.
- The prompt must not run: pause the item under Scheduled actions.
- The schedule or wording is wrong: edit the action rather than disabling notifications.
- The action is no longer needed: delete it.
- You use the web app: look under Chats for the unread result, even if phone alerts are disabled.
- You cannot find Scheduled actions: check account eligibility, Keep Activity and whether the interface is actually for Spark schedules.
- The information changes quickly: account for Google’s advance preparation window before relying on the result.
- You have many actions: remember Google’s limit of 10 active scheduled actions.
Privacy and lock-screen considerations
When mobile notifications are enabled, the alert may appear on the lock screen depending on the phone’s notification-display settings. If the subject of a scheduled response is sensitive, review the operating system’s lock-screen preview option in addition to Gemini’s permission. Disabling previews can hide message details while leaving the notification itself enabled, where the device supports that choice.
This is a third layer of control: the action can remain active, the Gemini notification can remain permitted, and the operating system can still limit what text is shown before the device is unlocked. Review those settings if the alert itself is useful but its contents should stay private.

Key distinction to remember
Notification permission controls whether your device announces that a response is ready. Scheduled actions controls whether Gemini performs the scheduled prompt. They are independent settings, and changing one does not substitute for the other.
