You can plan WordPress content in Nelio Content and send its social messages to Buffer by connecting your Buffer account in Nelio’s settings. The integration is listed as active by Buffer. You’ll need a WordPress site plus Nelio Content and Buffer accounts; some capabilities depend on your Buffer plan and channel setup.
What the Nelio Content–Buffer integration does
Nelio Content provides a WordPress-based place to plan posts and social messages, coordinate editorial work, and promote content. In the documented workflow, Buffer is the connected distribution queue: social messages assigned to Buffer-connected channels can be sent to Buffer when the WordPress post publishes. This is a workflow connection, not a guarantee that every social network, account type, or scheduled message behaves identically. Which profiles and features are available can depend on your connected services and plans.
What you need before connecting
- A WordPress site where you can install and activate plugins.
- A Nelio Content account and license key.
- A Buffer account. Nelio says either a free or paid account can connect, while some advanced features, including multiple profiles, depend on the Buffer plan. See Nelio’s FAQ.
How to connect Buffer to Nelio Content
- In WordPress admin, open Plugins → Add New, search for Nelio Content, then install and activate the plugin.
- Open Nelio Content’s settings and enter your Nelio Content license key.
- In the social media settings, connect your Buffer account and authorize the connection when prompted.
- Open the Nelio editorial calendar and create or open a WordPress post. Add social messages and assign them to the Buffer-connected channels you want to use.
- Schedule or publish the WordPress post according to your workflow. Buffer’s integration listing says assigned messages can enter the Buffer queue when the post publishes.
After connecting, check that the intended Buffer channels are available in Nelio and that the message is assigned to the right channel. The integration description establishes the general flow; it does not establish identical behavior for every network or account configuration.

How publication and reshare automation work
Nelio documents two distinct kinds of social automation. They are configured and triggered differently, so treat them as separate tools rather than assuming that every post will automatically follow the same schedule.
Publication messages
Nelio can generate messages to promote new content when it is published for profiles where the feature is enabled. Its help documentation says this behavior is subject to configuration and existing scheduled messages. Review your settings and scheduled items rather than assuming a new message will always be added. See Nelio’s help documentation.

Reshare messages
Reshare messages promote older content. Nelio’s help documentation says these are generated through a WordPress cron job using configured templates. Their timing and availability therefore depend on the configured automation and the connected service; the documented mechanism is not evidence that every Buffer channel receives identical reshares.
