Muvi Live and YouTube use separate stream URLs and keys. To send one live feed to both, create an event on each service, then configure a multi-destination encoder or cloud relay with the matching credentials for each destination. Muvi’s documented encoder workflow covers sending a feed into Muvi Live; it does not provide step-by-step instructions for directly linking a YouTube channel.
What “connect Muvi Live to YouTube” means
There are two separate workflows that can be mistaken for one another. Muvi Live accepts an encoder feed for playback through Muvi. YouTube Live accepts a feed for a YouTube event. Each destination supplies its own server URL and stream key, and each set of credentials must be entered only in the corresponding destination.
Muvi’s product page advertises social-media integration and says users can stream live audio events to social channels such as YouTube. However, the available product information does not establish the current steps for linking a YouTube channel, which Muvi Live plans support it, or whether it publishes video in the same way as the encoder workflow. The documented, controllable route is to configure separate outputs in an encoder or relay that supports both destinations.
Before you start
- Verify your YouTube channel and enable live streaming. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this well before the event. YouTube’s cross-platform streaming guidance explains the prerequisite.
- Have access to Muvi Dashboard and YouTube Studio, and choose an encoder or cloud relay that can send outputs to both Muvi and YouTube. The available output controls vary by tool; confirm support for both destinations.
- Plan enough upload capacity for both outputs. Use the sum of the destinations’ target bitrates, then allow additional headroom and test under realistic conditions.
- Treat both stream keys as secrets. Do not show them in screenshots, share them publicly, or include them in published examples.
Create the Muvi Live event and get its credentials
- In Muvi Dashboard, go to Content Management → Content Library → Add New, then choose Live Stream.
- Select an encoding profile and category. Under Manage Source, choose Encoder or Streaming Software – RTMP, select the nearest location, and save.
- Complete the event’s design, monetization, security, description, and advanced options as applicable, then save the event.
- In Content Library, open Stream Info for the event. Copy Muvi’s Stream URL and Stream Key. These are the credentials for the Muvi output only.
Muvi’s published walkthrough is How to Livestream Using Muvi Live via Encoder – RTMP.

Create the YouTube event and get its credentials
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then use the Stream tab to create or select a live event.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key shown for that event. Use these only for the YouTube output; do not substitute Muvi’s URL or key.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe entering YouTube’s server URL and key in the encoder. For secure YouTube-side RTMPS details, see Google’s RTMPS ingestion reference.
Configure the encoder or relay for both destinations
Add two separate outputs in a multi-destination encoder or cloud relay. Muvi’s guide demonstrates OBS with a custom service: enter the Muvi Stream URL in Server and the Muvi Stream Key in Stream Key. For the second output, use the YouTube URL and key in the fields specified by your encoder. The precise multi-output setup depends on the encoder or relay; Muvi’s guide does not document a single-click Muvi-to-YouTube connection.

| Destination | Get credentials from | Enter them in |

| YouTube Live | YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live → Stream | The encoder or relay output for YouTube |
OBS is encoder software, not a required paid product. If your encoder does not support multiple destinations, use a relay that does, or run a separate output method for the second service. Check that the chosen tool can reach both services before relying on it for an event.
Start, verify, and end the broadcasts
- Start the Muvi event from the dashboard and wait for its server to start. Start sending the feed from your encoder or relay.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, confirm the preview arrives and check stream health. Select Go live when you are ready for viewers.
- Check the feed at both destinations. Share the Muvi player link, HLS URL, or embed code with viewers who should watch through Muvi; share the YouTube watch page with YouTube viewers.
- To finish, stop sending from the encoder and end the YouTube event using Live Control Room controls as appropriate. Muvi says stopping at the encoder is suitable for a temporary pause; stopping the event in the Muvi dashboard ends it permanently and avoids unnecessary streaming-hour consumption.
Size your upload connection for two outputs
When the encoder sends directly to both platforms, estimate the combined target bitrate by adding the two outputs. YouTube’s example uses 6 Mbps plus 4 Mbps for a 10 Mbps combined target and recommends upload capacity 1.5 to 2 times that total—15–20 Mbps in that example. These are YouTube’s platform guidance figures, not a guarantee that a particular connection will remain stable. Test at the actual settings and monitor stream health in Live Control Room.

YouTube describes local hardware or software encoders as useful when you want local production control and have a capable computer. A cloud encoder or relay can simplify distribution, reduce load on a slow computer, and suit more than two destinations, but often involves a subscription. Compare destination support, bandwidth, reliability, latency needs, local computer capacity, control, and cost before choosing; the tool must explicitly support both Muvi and YouTube.
Copyright, archives, and event checks
- Use content you have the rights to broadcast on both services, and review the copyright and platform rules that apply to your material. Sending the same feed to two destinations does not grant additional rights.
- Do not rely on an archive as your only recording. YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; platform behavior can change, so confirm the current guidance if the archive is important.
- For a first YouTube live event, account for the possible activation delay of up to 24 hours. Schedule the event only after live streaming is enabled and tested.
Troubleshooting
YouTube shows no preview
Check that the YouTube event is active, the YouTube output is enabled, and its server URL and key—not Muvi’s credentials—are entered in that output. Confirm the encoder is sending and inspect YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health.

Muvi does not receive the feed
Confirm the Muvi event was saved and started, wait for its server to start, and verify that the Muvi Stream URL and Stream Key from Stream Info are assigned to the Muvi output. Restarting or changing the YouTube key will not correct an incorrect Muvi destination.
One destination works but the other does not
Check each output independently: the event status, its own URL and key, and whether the encoder or relay supports simultaneous delivery to both services. A successful connection to one platform does not validate the credentials or output configuration for the other.

Both feeds stutter or disconnect
Compare the combined target bitrates with available upload capacity. YouTube’s guidance is to provide 1.5–2 times the summed bitrate; test the connection under realistic conditions and monitor stream health. A relay may reduce the load on a constrained local computer, but it does not remove the need to confirm destination support and adequate connectivity.
You cannot go live on YouTube yet
Verify the channel and enable live streaming in YouTube. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so it may not be available immediately after enabling it.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service—not a Muvi-to-YouTube linking feature. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; and the first day is free with no card.
