To connect Bluehost AI Credits to Dify, add your Bluehost AI Credits API key to Dify’s Anthropic model provider, set the API URL to https://gateway.ai.bluehost.com/, save, and then send a test message from a Dify app. Bluehost’s Dify guide, last updated September 16, 2026, documents this configuration, and the steps below follow it.
What you need before you start
- Owner or admin access to a Dify workspace. Bluehost’s guide says this role is required to manage workspace model providers. A provider you connect applies to the whole workspace, so every member of that workspace will be able to use the models it exposes.
- A Bluehost AI Credits API key. Bluehost says AI Credits are available on Self-Managed VPS and VDS plans. Keys are created in the Bluehost Portal’s AI Tooling area, as described in the AI Credits overview.
- A positive AI Credits balance. Model requests are billed against the Bluehost AI Credits balance, not against a separate Anthropic account.
- The gateway URL. Use
https://gateway.ai.bluehost.com/exactly as written, including the trailing slash.
Configure the connection in Dify
Bluehost’s guide uses Dify’s built-in Anthropic provider and points it at the Bluehost gateway through a custom API URL. You are not adding a separate Bluehost plugin.

- In Dify, open Integrations > Model Provider.
- Locate Anthropic among the installed or available providers. If it is not installed, install it first.
- On the Anthropic provider card, choose Add API Key.
- In API Key, paste your Bluehost AI Credits API key. In API URL, enter
https://gateway.ai.bluehost.com/. - Save. According to Bluehost, Dify validates the key against the specified URL before the models become available. If validation passes, the Anthropic models appear for selection.
The table below summarises the two values and the access they depend on.

Verify that requests reach the model
Bluehost’s documented check is a live model response from a Dify app. Setting a default model is optional, but it saves time when you build apps.
#1 Best Overall
- Create a mix using audio, music and voice tracks and recordings.
- Customize your tracks with amazing effects and helpful editing tools.
- Use tools like the Beat Maker and Midi Creator.
- Work efficiently by using Bookmarks and tools like Effect Chain, which allow you to apply multiple effects at a time
- Use one of the many other NCH multimedia applications that are integrated with MixPad.
- In Dify, open Default Models and, if you want, set an available Anthropic model as the system default.
- Go to Studio and create a new Chatbot or Text Generator app.
- Open Preview / Debug, enter a short prompt, and send it.
- Confirm that a model response comes back. A response means the connection works end to end.
If the setup does not work
- The Anthropic provider is missing or you cannot add a key. Check your workspace role. Owner or admin access is required to manage model providers.
- Saving fails. Dify validates the key against the URL before enabling models, so re-check both fields. Confirm the key was copied completely and that the URL is exactly
https://gateway.ai.bluehost.com/, with no extra path or spaces. - The models do not appear for selection. Revisit the provider card and confirm the save completed. The guide does not describe any further steps, so if the provider still does not validate, check the key’s status and balance in the Bluehost Portal.
- The test prompt gets no response. Confirm that you selected an Anthropic model in the app and that the app is using the default model you configured. Then check that your AI Credits balance has not run out.
How this differs from deploying Dify
Bluehost also publishes separate guides for installing Dify on a Self-Managed VPS and on a Virtual Dedicated Server. Those guides cover getting Dify running on the server. The AI Credits steps in this article configure a model provider inside Dify and do not replace that installation. If you do not yet have a running Dify instance, complete the deployment guide for your product first, then return here to add the provider.
Bluehost lists Dify as an application supported by its AI Gateway. The gateway connects eligible apps to supported models through a customer-created API key, which is the same key you enter in Dify.
Credits, balance and cost
AI Credits are prepaid. Each model has its own per-token cost, and the balance is a shared account wallet, so usage from every app connected to that key draws from the same balance. Bluehost’s AI Credits overview says a balance is valid for 12 months from the most recent purchase, and that each new purchase resets that window. Rates and the list of supported models can change, so check the Bluehost Portal for current prices before you plan a large workload.

Because usage is billed to Bluehost AI Credits, the connection does not turn Dify into a direct Anthropic subscription, and you should not expect Anthropic account billing to apply.
Rank #3
- Transform audio playing via your speakers and headphones
- Improve sound quality by adjusting it with effects
- Take control over the sound playing through audio hardware
Keep secrets out of your configuration notes
Treat the AI Credits API key like a password. Do not paste it into screenshots, shared documents, or support tickets. Bluehost’s guide mentions retrieving server passwords for some Dify deployments, but that step belongs to the server setup and is not needed for the provider configuration described here.
