Menu names differ by TV model and software, so follow the on-screen prompts if the labels below do not match. Pairing connects the controller; it does not by itself guarantee that Xbox cloud gaming is available on your TV or in your region.
Pair the controller with your Samsung TV
- Open Gaming Hub, if your TV has it. On supported models, open Gaming Hub and find the controller setup or pairing option. Samsung says Gaming Hub is available on 2022-and-newer Smart TVs, with model and regional exceptions; confirm availability for your exact TV. Samsung’s U.S. Gaming Hub page has its stated compatibility details.
- Open the TV’s Bluetooth device search. If you do not see controller setup in Gaming Hub, open the Bluetooth device list in the TV settings. Samsung’s U.S. support instructions for some models give this path: Settings → Connection → External Device Manager → Input Device Manager → Bluetooth Device List. Your labels or path may differ. Samsung’s support instructions describe the pairing process.
- Put the controller in pairing mode. Turn on the Xbox controller, then press and hold the Pair button on its top until it is discoverable. Samsung’s instructions specifically call for holding this button.
- Select the controller on the TV. Choose the Xbox controller when it appears in the Bluetooth list, then select Connect or Pair, or accept the TV’s prompt.
- Test it in the game. Return to Gaming Hub or the Xbox app and try the controls in the game you want to play. If the controller connects but behaves unexpectedly, check compatibility for both exact models and whether the controller needs a firmware update.
Check whether cloud gaming is available on your TV
A successful Bluetooth connection only confirms that the TV and controller have paired. Cloud gaming also depends on the TV model, region, software, Gaming Hub or app availability, and the requirements of the service and account. Samsung’s Canada Gaming Hub guidance describes Xbox cloud gaming in supported contexts and notes that services may require a subscription or fees. Check the Xbox app’s prompts and current local service requirements rather than assuming one subscription applies everywhere. Samsung Canada’s Gaming Hub guidance covers service access and requirements.

Samsung distinguishes Gaming Hub on 2022-and-newer TVs from game-streaming apps available on some 2020–2021 TVs. Those older TVs may offer streaming options, but availability and setup paths vary by model and service. Samsung’s U.S. guide for older TVs describes the Bluetooth path listed above and identifies Xbox controllers among supported options. Check Samsung’s guide for 2021-and-older TVs if your TV does not have Gaming Hub.

Controller and compatibility details
Samsung’s U.S. Gaming Hub page lists Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive controllers among supported options. It says a Bluetooth or USB 2.0 controller can be used. This is Samsung’s stated support list, not a promise that every controller feature works in every game. Verify the exact TV and controller models before relying on a particular feature.

Samsung Canada’s support guidance also lists Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One S, Xbox 360, Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive controllers. It cautions that on-screen gaming controls and force feedback can vary, that Xbox controllers may need firmware updates, and that Tizen TVs support XInput mode for supported gamepads. A controller that pairs may therefore still have limited or unexpected behavior in a particular game.

If the TV does not find or control the Xbox controller
- It does not appear in the Bluetooth list: Confirm that the controller is on and in pairing mode, then run the TV’s device search again. If the TV still does not find it, check whether your exact TV and controller models are supported.
- It pairs but controls do not work as expected: Check for a controller firmware update and confirm the game supports the controls you need. Samsung notes that on-screen controls and force feedback can vary, and that supported gamepads on Tizen TVs use XInput mode.
- The controller works but cloud gaming does not start: Treat this as a service or TV-availability issue, not a pairing failure. Check whether your TV model, region, software, Gaming Hub or streaming app, and Xbox account meet the current requirements shown by Samsung and the Xbox app.
