How you connect a Xiaomi camera to a PC depends on what you want to do. For saved recordings, a USB microSD card reader works with models that store footage on a removable card. For live viewing, do not assume Xiaomi Home works on a computer: Xiaomi says the app has no direct Windows or macOS version, and the C300 FAQ specifically rules out viewing its live feed or recordings on a PC through the app.
First identify your camera and your goal
“Connect to a PC” can mean watching a live feed, copying recorded video, or setting up network storage. These are different workflows, and Xiaomi does not provide one universal PC connection method for all cameras. Check your exact model’s support information for its recording options, card requirements, firmware needs, and any supported computer software before connecting anything.

Copy recordings from a removable microSD card
If your camera saves recordings to a removable microSD card, a compatible USB card reader is a practical way to copy files to a computer. Xiaomi’s C700 FAQ says footage on the card can be viewed on a computer by removing the card and using a card reader when the camera is offline or powered off. Xiaomi also documents card-reader transfer for Mi Dashcam footage.
- Confirm removable-card recording. Check the exact model’s instructions and card requirements. Card capacity, format, and speed are model-specific; the C300, for example, lists microSD storage up to 256 GB, but that limit should not be assumed for another camera.
- Power off the camera if required. Follow the model’s instructions before removing its card.
- Connect the card to the PC. Insert it into a compatible USB microSD card reader, then connect the reader to the computer.
- Copy and verify the files. Locate the video recordings and copy them to the PC. Keep the original card contents until you have confirmed the copied files open correctly.
A card reader accesses saved files only; it does not provide live viewing. Do not format the card or delete its contents until you have verified your copies.

Can you watch a Xiaomi camera live on a PC?
Generally, you should not expect to open Xiaomi Home on a Windows or macOS computer. Xiaomi’s platform FAQ says the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app does not have a PC version and is not supported for direct use on those operating systems. The Xiaomi Smart Camera C300 FAQ is more specific: it says live monitoring and recordings cannot be viewed on a computer through Xiaomi Home.
A separate Xiaomi support article says live viewing is possible through a computer client program, but it does not identify the compatible camera models, client name, download location, operating system, or current availability. Treat that as model-specific guidance that needs confirmation, not as a general method. Check the current support page for your exact camera before downloading or installing any client.

Use USB to export footage from a Mi Dashcam
Xiaomi documents a direct USB export method for its Mi Dashcam. The support instructions require the dashcam firmware to be updated to the latest version and describe using a data cable with the dashcam’s microUSB interface. The same support article also gives a card-reader transfer option.
This guidance is specific to the Mi Dashcam. Do not assume that connecting an indoor Xiaomi camera to a PC by USB will expose recordings or enable live video; use a USB method only when the instructions for your exact model confirm it.

Check model support before setting up network storage
Some Xiaomi camera models support transferring recordings to NAS or Xiaomi router storage. Xiaomi’s C300 and older 360° camera support pages describe model-specific storage options, but support on those models does not establish that every Xiaomi camera supports NAS. Confirm the feature and setup steps for your camera before configuring a network destination.
