Connect a LAN cable between the PS5’s LAN port and your router, then select Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection > Set Up Wired LAN > Connect. You usually do not need to enter network settings manually.
What you need before setting up Ethernet
- A LAN (Ethernet) cable. Sony’s PS5 CFI-10XXB Quick Start Guide says a LAN cable is not included. That statement applies to the documented model group; check the contents for your specific console package.
- An available LAN port on your router or wired home network.
How to set up a wired connection on PS5
- Find the LAN port on the back of the console. Its position varies by PS5 model group; Sony’s internet connection guide includes port-location diagrams for the CFI-1000, CFI-2000, and CFI-7000 groups.
- Plug one end of the LAN cable into the PS5 and the other into an available LAN port on your router or wired network.
- On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select Set Up Wired LAN > Connect. The console should use the wired connection.
For ordinary setup, Sony’s instructions do not require you to enter an IP address, DNS, MTU, or proxy value manually. The same menu offers those advanced settings, but leave them unchanged unless your network administrator or internet provider tells you otherwise.

Where to plug the Ethernet cable into a PS5
Plug it into the LAN port on the back of the console—not a USB port—and connect the other end to a LAN port on the router or wired home network. The exact position on the console varies by model group; use Sony’s model diagrams if you are unsure which rear port is the LAN port.

Check PlayStation service status
A service outage or maintenance can prevent sign-in even when your home network connection is working. Check the PlayStation service status before changing network settings.

Reconnect and restart
Check that both ends of the cable are firmly connected, restart the PS5, and set up the wired connection again using the steps above. For error code NW-102650-4, Sony also advises turning off the modem and router, waiting at least five minutes, and restarting them. Check router configuration and firmware
The PS5 supports IPv6, but it cannot connect to an IPv6-only network. If your router is configured for IPv6 only, Sony advises changing it to use IPv4; contact the router manufacturer if you need help. Sony also recommends asking the router vendor about firmware updates.

Leave advanced changes to your network provider or administrator
Sony’s NW-102650-4 guidance discusses port settings, a static IP address, and DNS changes for that specific error. These are not universal first steps for every wired connection problem. If basic checks fail, ask your internet provider or network administrator before changing these settings; Sony likewise advises getting help if you are unfamiliar with IP address, DHCP host name, DNS, MTU, or proxy options.
