A PS3 controller may work with a Samsung tablet, but compatibility and setup cannot be guaranteed without the tablet’s exact model and Android version. The official procedure available here is for certain Sony tablets—not Samsung Galaxy tablets—so first check your tablet’s USB connector, USB host/OTG support, and Bluetooth compatibility. A cable or adapter alone does not establish that the tablet or a particular game will recognize the controller.
What you need to know before connecting
“Samsung tablet” covers many models, and the instructions documented by Sony do not confirm compatibility with any particular Galaxy tablet. Check the model name and Android version in the tablet’s settings, then consult its manual or Samsung support information for USB host/OTG capability and supported controllers. Without those details, there is no verified universal Samsung setup path.

What the documented Sony procedure does—and does not—tell you
Sony’s SGPT11-series help guide says its tablet can connect to a PS3 controller by wired or wireless connection. Its first-time wireless setup is not simply selecting the controller in Android’s ordinary Bluetooth device list: turn on Bluetooth, connect the controller to the tablet using Sony’s designated SGPUC1 adapter cable and a commercially available USB cable, then disconnect it to complete pairing. Sony says pressing the controller’s PS button reconnects it after initial pairing. These are instructions for the specified Sony tablet, not a confirmed method or accessory recommendation for Samsung.

If you want to try a wired connection
A USB cable for a wired setup may be part of the required equipment, but the controller-side cable and tablet-side adapter depend on the devices involved. A USB Mini-B cable may fit some controller cables or charging arrangements; it does not replace a compatible tablet adapter or USB host support. Confirm the exact tablet requirements before purchasing anything.
If you want to try wireless pairing
Use only instructions confirmed for your exact Samsung model and Android version. Sony’s documented SGPT11 process requires a wired pairing step first, but there is no Samsung-specific procedure established here. Connecting the controller to a PS3 or another tablet can also clear its pairing with the original tablet under Sony’s documented procedure.

Why the controller may not connect
- Model compatibility is unknown: The Samsung model and Android version are needed to verify whether either connection method is supported.
- The USB path is incomplete: A cable by itself may not provide the correct connector or host connection. Sony’s adapter requirements apply to its own tablet procedure only.
- The game may not recognize it: Successful physical or Bluetooth connection does not establish that a specific game supports the controller.
- Pairing was changed on another device: Sony says pairing with a PS3 or another tablet clears the pairing from the original Sony tablet; whether that behavior applies to Samsung is not established.
- Power or audio interference: On the documented Sony tablet, the controller must be charged for wireless use, and simultaneous A2DP Bluetooth audio may be interrupted. Those are Sony-specific cautions, not confirmed Samsung behavior.
What to verify for a model-specific answer
Identify the tablet’s exact model and Android version, then check its manual or Samsung support information for USB host/OTG capability and controller support. Also confirm the connector and adapter needed for a wired attempt, and check whether the game supports external controllers. Until those details are known, neither a guaranteed pairing sequence nor a Samsung-compatible accessory can be specified.
