How to Configure DJI Dock Weather, Geofencing and Remote-Flight Settings

A practical, generation-aware guide to checking DJI Dock weather telemetry, refreshing FlightHub 2 GEO zones, assigning routes and launching supported remote tasks safely.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Configure a DJI Dock in this order: identify the exact Dock generation and aircraft, complete the site and network setup, verify live weather telemetry against your approved operating limits, review GEO zones and obstacle rules in FlightHub 2, then distribute either a planned route or an immediate manual task. The original DJI Dock (with the M30-series Dock aircraft) includes an integrated weather station, but DJI does not publish one universal wind- and rain-abort table for every generation and firmware version. Your current model manual and the site’s aviation procedures therefore remain the authority for dispatch limits.

Identify the Dock generation before changing any setting

DJI uses separate manuals, firmware packages and supported-aircraft lists for each Dock generation. Menu names and available controls can differ, so do not follow a Dock 2 or Dock 3 procedure on an original Dock without checking the model label and installed software.

Dock generation Aircraft family identified by DJI What to verify before configuration
Original DJI Dock M30-series Dock aircraft Use the original Dock manual and matching firmware; confirm the aircraft is the Dock version, not a standard M30 variant.
DJI Dock 2 Matrice 3D or Matrice 3TD Use the Dock 2 download-center manual and firmware; do not assume original-Dock menu labels or limits.
DJI Dock 3 Matrice 4D-series aircraft Use the Dock 3 documentation supplied for the installed aircraft and FlightHub 2 release.

Record the Dock serial number, aircraft model, FlightHub 2 organization, firmware versions and the date of the last configuration review. This inventory prevents a route from being assigned to an incompatible aircraft and makes later troubleshooting much faster.

Complete the physical and network setup first

Install the Dock correctly

  1. Place the Dock on a flat, level surface with the clearances and anchoring specified in the applicable installation manual.
  2. Connect the specified power supply and network path. A wired connection is normally the most predictable primary path; cellular service can be used only where the Dock model, carrier and country or region support it.
  3. Power the system and complete the initial quick configuration with a linked DJI RC Plus remote controller. The controller is needed for setup, testing and contingency control even when routine missions will be issued from the cloud.
  4. Confirm that the aircraft is seated, charging and visible to the Dock before attempting a route.

DJI recommends at least 10 Mbps upload and download for a better user experience. That figure is a connectivity recommendation, not a guarantee that a route will be safe or that a weak, high-latency link will support every operation. Test the actual connection at the installed site, including the cellular path if it is configured as a backup.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Bind the Dock to the correct FlightHub 2 organization

A Dock belongs to a FlightHub 2 organization. Before creating or distributing tasks, check that the signed-in account is in the organization that owns the site. DJI’s device-management workflow supports binding with DJI Pilot 2 or the DJI Enterprise app. If the Dock must move to another organization, unbind it first, then complete the new binding and permissions check. A route can be perfectly planned yet unavailable for dispatch if the Dock is still attached to a different organization.

Configure and use weather operating gates

Understand what the original Dock measures

The original DJI Dock has a built-in weather station. DJI states that it monitors wind speed, rainfall and temperature, so an additional weather station is not required for those measurements. Treat the station as part of the Dock’s dispatch-safety system: inspect its current telemetry before a flight and investigate stale, missing or implausible readings rather than overriding them.

DJI publishes an operating-temperature range of −35 °C to 50 °C for the Dock. DJI also says the Dock enters standby when the temperature falls below −20 °C and resumes missions when the temperature rises above that condition. These are published product behaviors, not a complete list of editable mission thresholds. They should not be interpreted as permission to fly an aircraft at every temperature in that range.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use a site-specific weather decision rule

Public DJI material does not provide one numeric wind, rain, visibility and temperature-abort table that applies to every Dock generation and firmware version. Before deployment, obtain the limits for the exact Dock and aircraft from the current manual or DJI support channel, then combine them with the limits in your aviation authorization and operating procedures.

Check before dispatch Where to look Decision
Wind speed and trend Dock or FlightHub 2 status telemetry; compare with the approved aircraft and site limit. Dispatch only when within the approved limit and not trending toward an unsafe condition during the mission.
Rainfall or precipitation Integrated weather-station status on the original Dock, plus local observations. Do not launch when precipitation exceeds the aircraft, Dock or site procedure; resolve a sensor fault first.
Temperature Dock telemetry and the applicable model manual. Account for the published −35 °C to 50 °C Dock range and standby behavior below −20 °C, while applying the aircraft’s own limit.
Visibility and local conditions Site observation, forecast service approved by your operation and any aviation requirement. Hold the mission if visibility, lightning, icing, dust or another local hazard violates the operating plan.
Network and power status Dock status panel and site network monitoring. Do not dispatch a remote task if the command link, return path or power system is unstable.

Inspect telemetry immediately before a mission

  1. Open the Dock’s status view in FlightHub 2 and select the intended Dock.
  2. Read the current temperature, wind and rainfall values, along with sensor-health and network indicators.
  3. Compare the readings with the written site limits for that aircraft, route and mission type.
  4. Check the forecast and physical surroundings for hazards that a point sensor may not reveal, such as a nearby storm cell or blowing dust.
  5. Record a hold reason when the limits are not met. Do not substitute a manually typed value for a failed or unavailable sensor.

Temperature can also affect turnaround time. DJI’s FAQ documents a minimum interval of 25 minutes between flights under its stated conditions of 25 °C and a battery charge between 10% and 90%. Higher temperatures can lengthen cooling time. Schedule successive missions with that interval as a baseline, then add margin for the site, aircraft workload and actual thermal conditions.

Set up GEO zones and custom flight areas in FlightHub 2

Create the project and route

  1. In FlightHub 2, open the correct organization and create or open the project for the Dock site.
  2. Open the route-planning tool and define the task’s flight area and route. Set the intended altitude, speed, camera actions and return behavior within the limits of the applicable aircraft and authorization.
  3. Choose the Dock and aircraft that will execute the route only after confirming model compatibility and online status.

Review GEO and custom zones before saving

Review the applicable GEO and custom flight zones while the route is open. Check that the planned polygon, corridor and altitude remain outside prohibited or restricted areas, or that the operation has the required authorization and documented mitigation. A route that was valid yesterday can become invalid after a zone or airspace-data update, so repeat this check whenever a route is edited or reused.

DJI distinguishes long-term fixed obstacles from temporary obstacles. A fixed obstruction can be handled through Custom GEO Zone obstacle-bypass settings where permitted. A temporary obstruction should be handled with the route’s Bypass Obstacle option and a current site assessment. Do not use a permanent custom zone to conceal a temporary hazard, and do not enable bypass without confirming the resulting clearance and local approval.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Refresh the route editor after every zone change

DJI warns that custom GEO-zone changes must be reflected by refreshing the FlightHub 2 route editor promptly. If you edit a zone in another view and continue using an already-open route, the editor may still contain the old geometry and the task can fail.

  1. Save or publish the custom-zone change according to the displayed FlightHub 2 workflow.
  2. Close and reopen, or explicitly refresh, the route editor.
  3. Recheck the flight-area boundary, route corridor, altitude ceiling, obstacle-bypass choice and any warning banners.
  4. Save the route again only after the refreshed map shows the current zone data.
  5. Reopen the route from the plan library and verify the assigned Dock and aircraft.

Keep altitude and permissions aligned

  • Use the lower of the route’s configured ceiling, the aircraft’s capability and the altitude authorized for the site.
  • Check takeoff and landing geometry at the Dock, not only the en-route map.
  • Include towers, cranes, trees and other fixed structures in the site’s obstacle data.
  • Document the authority, waiver or permission that supports any operation inside an otherwise restricted area.
  • Revalidate a route after construction, temporary cranes, public events or other changes near the flight area.

Configure planned and immediate remote flights

Use the plan library for a planned route

FlightHub 2 distributes planned routes through the plan library. After weather, GEO and obstacle checks are complete:

  1. Open the plan library and select the approved route.
  2. Select the intended Dock and confirm that its aircraft, firmware, battery state and online status match the plan.
  3. Review the route summary, timing, altitude, payload actions and return behavior.
  4. Distribute the task to the Dock and wait for the system to report that the task is accepted and ready.
  5. Watch the Dock and aircraft status through takeoff, route execution, landing and post-flight recovery.

For suitable data-collection missions, DJI recommends enabling Resume Flight from Breakpoint. This lets a route continue from an interruption point when the aircraft and task conditions support it. Confirm the resulting behavior for your mission before relying on it operationally; it is not a substitute for a weather recheck or a new site-risk assessment after a long interruption.

Use a manual task for an immediate cloud-issued flight

DJI describes a manual task as an immediate task issued through FlightHub 2 for supported aircraft. Choose this workflow when the operation is time-sensitive and does not need the scheduling and repeatability of a stored route.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Confirm that the aircraft and installed FlightHub 2 version support manual tasks.
  2. Open the manual-task command in the correct project and select the Dock.
  3. Define the immediate flight parameters and verify altitude, area, obstacle behavior and return settings.
  4. Perform the same weather, GEO, network and battery checks required for a planned route.
  5. Issue the task and monitor acknowledgements, telemetry and the aircraft’s state continuously.

An immediate task still requires a safe, authorized flight area. “Manual” describes how the cloud task is issued; it does not remove GEO restrictions, weather gates, aircraft limits or the need for a recovery plan.

Pre-dispatch checklist

  • Model: The Dock generation, aircraft and firmware match the current DJI documentation.
  • Organization: The Dock is bound to the correct FlightHub 2 organization and the operator has the required permissions.
  • Site: The Dock is level, powered, networked and clear for takeoff and landing.
  • Weather: Current wind, rainfall and temperature telemetry is present and within the approved limits; visibility and local hazards have also been checked.
  • Temperature: The published Dock behavior, aircraft limit and cooling interval have been considered; below −20 °C, the original Dock’s documented standby behavior is expected.
  • GEO: The current zones, flight area, altitude and permissions agree after the route editor was refreshed.
  • Obstacles: Fixed and temporary hazards use the appropriate custom-zone or bypass treatment.
  • Task: The correct Dock and aircraft are selected in the plan library or manual-task screen.
  • Recovery: Return behavior, breakpoint handling and the contingency operator with RC Plus are ready.
  • Turnaround: The previous-flight interval and battery condition allow the next mission.

Troubleshoot common configuration failures

The route fails after a GEO-zone edit

Close or refresh the route editor, reopen the route, and verify the complete geometry and altitude settings. Then save and redistribute the refreshed route. If the failure persists, remove and recreate the affected custom-zone relationship using the current model workflow and confirm that the assigned Dock is online.

The Dock will not dispatch in cold weather

Read the live temperature and status message. On the original Dock, DJI documents standby below −20 °C and resumption when the temperature rises above that condition. Do not force a launch; wait for the documented recovery condition and verify the aircraft’s own temperature requirements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Weather values are missing or implausible

Check sensor-health indicators, power, network status and the Dock’s physical environment. Pause the mission when telemetry cannot be trusted. The integrated station removes the need for an additional station on the original Dock, but it does not remove the need to service a failed sensor or escalate an unresolved discrepancy.

The Dock is visible but cannot receive a task

Confirm organization binding, user permissions, online status, firmware compatibility and network quality. If the Dock was recently moved between organizations, complete the unbind-and-rebind process before trying again.

A second flight is unavailable

Check the elapsed time since landing, battery state and temperature. DJI’s 25-minute minimum interval is documented for 25 °C and a 10%-to-90% charge condition; hotter conditions can require more cooling time. Wait for the Dock’s ready state rather than repeatedly resubmitting the task.

What to document for a defensible operation

Keep a configuration record containing the Dock and aircraft identifiers, firmware versions, FlightHub 2 organization, network type and measured throughput, approved weather limits, GEO-zone revision, route revision, operator, dispatch time and any hold or recovery decision. Record why a mission was delayed or resumed, especially after a weather interruption. This creates a traceable link between the settings shown in FlightHub 2 and the operating authorization used at the site.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The safest configuration is therefore not a single universal threshold. It is a generation-matched Dock, a verified organization and network, current weather telemetry checked against written limits, refreshed GEO data, an appropriate planned or manual task, and a tested RC Plus contingency path.
