Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteKeep Comodo Firewall enabled and use Safe Mode, Comodo’s recommended setting for most users. When a connection alert appears, verify the requesting program and choose Treat this application as a Trusted Application only if you trust that specific program. If it is still blocked, check its application rule and the firewall’s global rules; the exact menu path depends on your Comodo product and version.
Use Safe Mode as the everyday setting
In Comodo’s current Internet Security help, the path is Settings > Firewall > Firewall Settings. Leave Enable Firewall on and select Safe Mode. Comodo describes Safe Mode as its default and recommends it for most users because it combines security with a manageable number of alerts. With the relevant safe-application option enabled, Comodo can automatically create allow rules for applications it considers safe; it prompts when a new or unknown program tries to connect. Approve only the program you have verified
When an alert appears, check the application requesting network access and whether the request fits what you are doing—for example, a browser connecting while you load a page. Do not approve a program just because its filename looks familiar. If you have verified the program and want to allow it, choose Treat this application as a Trusted Application. Comodo says this applies its predefined Trusted Application ruleset, so it is more than simply dismissing or hiding the alert. Comodo’s General Firewall Settings help

Choose a mode that matches how much rule management you want
| Mode | What to expect | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Safe Mode | Can automatically allow applications Comodo considers safe when the relevant option is enabled; prompts about new or unknown applications. | Most users who want protection without managing every connection rule. |
| Custom Ruleset | Uses user-created network rules. Even safe-listed applications can prompt unless specific rules trust them. | Users who want more visibility and are willing to create and maintain rules. |
| Training Mode | Creates allow rules for new applications without alerts. | Advanced users or administrators establishing a trusted baseline—not a quick way to stop alerts. |
These mode descriptions and recommendations come from Comodo’s firewall settings documentation.
If a trusted program is still blocked, inspect its rules
Allowing the application in an alert may not resolve an existing block. A blocked loaded component can also cause the entire application to lose internet access, according to Comodo. Check for a component-related block as well as the program’s own entry.

Check the application-specific rule
Comodo’s walkthrough for Internet Security v5.9/5.10 documents this path: Firewall > Network Security Policy > Application Rules. Select the program, then edit or remove its rule and confirm the change. This is a version-specific example; newer interfaces may use different labels or locations. Check Global Rules too
Comodo consults both application-specific and global rules when deciding whether to allow traffic. The order differs by direction: outbound connections check application rules first, then global rules; inbound connections check global rules first, then application rules. So if the app rule appears to allow the connection, inspect the relevant global rule before changing settings more broadly. Comodo’s Firewall Configuration help

Keep useful alerts visible while troubleshooting
Comodo recommends Low alert frequency for most users. Its documentation says alert frequency changes the volume and detail of alerts, not the protection level established by the firewall rules. Hiding pop-ups can make it harder to identify and decide on a connection request, so leave them visible while diagnosing a block. Comodo’s General Firewall Settings help
