Remove Garmin Express files on a Mac
Garmin’s Mac procedure removes the application and specified files from your user Library. Before starting, note Garmin’s warning: “This process may delete the backups from Garmin Express.” If those backups matter, investigate backup or export options before removing the files. Garmin also points readers to separate BaseCamp instructions for backing up saved places on an automotive device.

If the Windows uninstall fails
Garmin recommends a limited retry procedure if Windows says a reboot is needed or the uninstall does not work. Follow these steps only if the named processes appear; do not end unrelated processes.
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- If listed, end Windows Update Service and Microsoft Service Process.
- Restart the computer, then try uninstalling Garmin Express again through Settings > Apps.
If it still fails, Garmin links to Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter for compatible computers. Garmin also lists trying Garmin Express on another computer or consulting a Microsoft Certified Repair Technician as escalation options. The troubleshooter’s availability is not established for every Windows configuration.

Uninstalling the app is not the same as removing a device
If your goal is only to disconnect a registered device while keeping Garmin Express installed, use the app’s separate removal command instead. Garmin says to right-click the device and choose Remove From Express, or select it and choose Tools & Content > Utilities > Remove Device. See Garmin’s device-removal instructions.
If removal still will not complete
For a Mac that remains blocked, Garmin lists contacting an Apple Authorized Service Provider. For Windows, its listed options include trying another computer or consulting a Microsoft Certified Repair Technician. These are escalation options, not requirements for a routine uninstall.
