Compare screenshot APIs by the cost of producing the pages your workload actually needs—not by dividing a monthly price by its headline quota. First make the services count the same things, then compare included renders, overages, cache behavior, request limits, and the options your pages require. Prices below were observed on vendor pages on October 3, 2026; they can change.
Start with an equivalent workload
A “page” is not necessarily a billable screenshot. Providers may exclude failed renders or cache-served requests, apply overage fees, or use more than one credit for a complex capture. A low advertised cost per render can therefore be misleading if its quota rules or capture tier do not fit your work.

For a fair comparison, define a month of work in terms each service can be checked against:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Total requests you expect to send.
- Expected successful renders, failed requests, and cache hits or misses.
- Required viewport, full-page behavior, delays or interactions, and output formats.
- Peak requests per minute, not only monthly volume.
- Any advanced handling, such as stealth or unusually complex pages, that may affect plan eligibility or credit use.
Do not assume that a provider’s monthly quota means all requests sent, all URLs submitted, or all successful renders. Check the vendor’s precise definition.

What counts against the quota?
ScreenshotOne’s pricing FAQ says that only screenshots “successfully rendered (without HTTP, browser, or network errors) and not served from cache” count toward quota. It also notes that a cache miss can trigger a rerender. Urlbox says failed requests do not count, and that cache-served requests generally do not count against quota. These are vendor-stated billing rules, not an independent audit of billing outcomes.
For each provider, establish whether failures, cache hits, cache misses, retries, and complex captures consume quota or credits. A cache hit may lower billed volume, but only if the cached result is reusable for your URL, options, and freshness requirements. Compare cache lifetime and invalidation behavior as well as the billing rule.

Do the throughput limits fit your bursts?
A plan can have enough monthly renders yet be unsuitable for a batch that must finish quickly. The vendor-published limits observed October 3, 2026 were:

Check whether the plan supports the capture you need
Make a short requirements list before comparing unit prices. A standard viewport screenshot and a long full-page capture are not interchangeable workloads. Check dimensions and device viewport, full-page or scrolling capture, required delays or interactions, output format, and any need for geographic selection, stealth or anti-blocking handling, GPU rendering, video, storage, or integrations.
ScreenshotOne’s options documentation lists formats including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, AVIF, HEIF, and PDF. Its plans list capabilities such as PDF rendering, HTML rendering, full-page capture, caching, webhooks, signed links, and stealth mode, with some features limited to higher tiers. Urlbox describes Lo-Fi for thumbnails and basic capture, Hi-Fi for more accurate rendering, and Ultra for complex capture scenarios; advanced scenarios may consume more credits. Verify the exact option and its billing treatment with the current plan details rather than assuming that an advertised quota covers every mode at the same rate.

ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try: it removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. Its published plans include every feature on every plan, so the relevant question is whether its 1,000-shot free tier or a paid quota fits your volume and capture requirements.

Work a monthly estimate from your own numbers
Example assumptions
Suppose a service receives 13,000 requests in a month. You estimate that 800 will fail, 1,200 will be cache hits, and 11,000 will be successful cache misses that produce a fresh rendered image. You need PNG and PDF output, full-page captures, and a peak rate of 70 requests per minute. These are planning assumptions, not measured vendor results.
Apply each provider’s counting rules
- For ScreenshotOne, if all 11,000 misses are successfully rendered and non-cached, its stated rule makes those the quota-counted screenshots. Basic would be 9,000 above its 2,000 allowance: $17 + (9,000 × $0.009) = $98. Growth would be 1,000 above its 10,000 allowance: $79 + (1,000 × $0.006) = $85. Scale’s 50,000 allowance costs $259 with no overage in this example. Growth’s published 80 requests per minute clears the assumed 70-request peak; Basic’s 40 does not.
- For Urlbox, failed requests do not count and cache-served requests generally do not count, according to its vendor guidance. If the same 11,000 fresh renders are quota-counted, Lo-Fi’s 2,000 and Hi-Fi’s 5,000 quotas are insufficient without a separately confirmed overage arrangement. Ultra includes 15,000 at $99/month and lists 250 requests per minute. The example’s PDF and full-page requirements still need to be checked against the selected tier; quota fit alone does not prove feature fit.
- For ScreenshotNeo, the stated Growth plan includes 15,000 shots for $15, which covers 11,000 under that quota. Its billing rule is that only clean shots are billed; bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. Confirm that the exact workload’s expected result types and required output are supported before treating the arithmetic as a final quote.
This estimate demonstrates the method, not a head-to-head quality or reliability ranking. A comparison is only fair if “render” represents an equivalent output and the relevant options are available on the tier being priced.
Calculate cost per useful result—not just per request
Once plan eligibility is established, divide expected monthly spend by the number of usable outputs your application needs. Keep the denominator consistent: if your product requires fresh PDFs, do not count cached PNG results as equivalent useful pages. Include overages and any complexity-based credits in the numerator, and account for failures or unusable output in the denominator when the provider bills them.
- Estimate request volume, successful fresh renders, failures, and cache hits from your own traffic.
- Confirm each plan’s counting rules and calculate the billable total.
- Eliminate tiers that cannot meet format, capture-mode, and peak-throughput requirements.
- Calculate subscription plus expected overage or additional credits.
- Divide by the count of usable results that meet your application’s requirements.
- Run a small representative workload before committing if visual fidelity or complex-page behavior matters; published pricing alone does not establish render quality.

With ScreenshotNeo, one GET request can return a screenshot or PDF. Its clean-shot handling removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools, and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

What to verify before choosing
- Whether the quota counts requests, successful renders, cache misses, or another unit.
- How failed requests, cache hits, cache misses, retries, and longer or complex captures affect billing.
- The current overage rate or credit rule, and whether alerts or hard limits are available.
- Whether required formats, full-page capture, interaction controls, and other options are included in the priced tier.
- Whether the plan’s request rate fits expected bursts as well as monthly volume.
- Whether annual billing changes the effective price and whether quoted prices include applicable taxes.
