Compare portable power stations on three separate measures: stated battery capacity in watt-hours (Wh), continuous and surge output in watts (W), and recharge time under a clearly specified charging method. A larger Wh figure does not guarantee more energy delivered to an AC appliance, and a high surge rating does not mean the station can sustain that load. Check the exact regional model and compare charging figures only when the input method and charge endpoint match.
What “usable capacity” means on a power station spec sheet
Capacity is usually listed in watt-hours (Wh), a measure of the energy the manufacturer says the battery stores. Treat that figure as a starting point for comparing models, not as a promise that an AC appliance can draw the full amount. Inverter conversion losses, reserve limits, load size, and the station’s operating behavior affect energy delivered to an AC outlet.

The manufacturer pages cited here do not establish independently measured, cross-brand usable AC energy. Avoid converting a listed capacity into a precise usable-Wh figure unless a comparable test source gives its conditions. Also check whether a stated capacity includes an expansion battery or whether expansion is optional.

Estimate runtime from the appliance, then allow for uncertainty
Runtime depends on the appliance’s actual power draw and on how the station delivers power. A device’s nameplate wattage can be a useful first estimate, but it may not reflect its draw throughout use; refrigerators and other cycling appliances, for example, do not necessarily run at one constant load. Capacity alone therefore cannot establish an exact runtime. For a meaningful estimate, look for a test of the specific station and load, or use manufacturer guidance that clearly states its assumptions.

Match continuous output and surge output to your appliances
Continuous AC output, measured in watts, indicates the power the inverter is rated to sustain. Compare it with the appliance’s running draw and with the station’s total shared output if multiple devices will run at once. Surge or peak output is a separate, short-duration claim intended to describe brief demand such as motor or compressor startup. Check any stated duration or conditions; do not treat peak watts as continuous capacity.
A station can have substantial stored energy and still be unable to run an appliance whose power demand exceeds its inverter rating. For a refrigerator, kettle, CPAP machine, or other planned load, check the appliance’s running and startup requirements, the station’s continuous and surge ratings, and whether the correct outlet is available. Do not assume that a general product description establishes compatibility with a particular device.

Compare recharge time like for like
A charging-time claim is useful only when you know the input source, charging mode, starting battery level, and endpoint. AC wall charging, solar charging, and vehicle charging are different scenarios. “To 80%” is not comparable to a full charge, and a fast or emergency mode should not be presented as ordinary charging. Solar estimates also depend on the specified panel setup and conditions; verify the exact model’s input limits and accessory compatibility.

| Model and listing | Capacity and AC output | Manufacturer-listed recharge information | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, US listing | 1070 Wh; 1500 W rated AC output; 3000 W surge | AC adapter charging time: 1.58 hours. SolarSaga 200W setup: 7.5 hours. | Figures are for the listed model and methods; they do not establish independently measured usable AC energy. Jackery US product page. |
| EcoFlow DELTA, original listing | 1260 Wh; 1800 W output; 3300 W surge | AC charging to 80% in under one hour; full charge in 96 minutes. | This is the original DELTA listing; do not apply these figures to newer DELTA models. EcoFlow US product page. |
The numbers do not prove that one model provides longer real-world runtime or recharges faster in every use. The two listings describe different products and charging endpoints; no standardized independent head-to-head test of usable AC energy or charging time is established here.
Verify the regional model, ports, and operating details
Product names may cover regional versions with different electrical specifications, outlet layouts, or charging accessories. The UK Explorer 1000 v2 listing specifies 230 V / 50 Hz, 1500 W rated output, 3000 W surge, and 1.7 hours for AC recharge, unlike the US listing’s stated AC charging time. Check the exact SKU and market rather than transferring a voltage, frequency, port, or charge-time claim across versions. See the Jackery UK Explorer 1000 v2 listing.

A “UPS” label does not by itself show that a power station provides zero-interruption backup. Jackery describes the Explorer 1000 v2’s UPS function as pass-through power that switches to battery during an outage, and cautions that it is not a zero-interruption UPS for equipment that needs true uninterruptible power. Review the Jackery support information and check the protected equipment maker’s tolerance for an interruption before relying on this function.

A practical comparison checklist
- Capacity: Record manufacturer-rated Wh and whether any expansion battery is included or optional. Treat the figure as stored energy, not guaranteed AC-delivered energy.
- Output: Record continuous AC watts, voltage, frequency, total shared output, and surge watts. Check running demand and startup demand separately.
- Recharge: Note AC, solar, or vehicle input; charge mode; starting percentage; endpoint; input limits; and the compatible equipment required.
- Connections: Confirm outlet and DC/USB types, counts, and limits against the devices you intend to connect simultaneously.
- Use conditions: Check dimensions, weight, noise, temperature limits, expansion, and any backup-transfer behavior that matters to your setup.
Keep comparisons within the same model and region. For example, Explorer 1000 v2 figures should not be transferred to the Explorer 1000 Plus: Jackery Europe lists the Plus at 1264 Wh and provides SolarSaga 80 W charging estimates on its Explorer 1000 Plus support page.
