A practical comparison of OnePlus 15, 13 and 13R cameras, battery specifications, regional charging and software-update commitments.

Compare OnePlus phones by the features that affect everyday use—not by megapixel counts or battery capacity alone. The OnePlus 15, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R differ in camera reach, battery size, charging specifications and confirmed software-support details. The available specifications do not establish which takes the best photos or lasts longest in independent real-world testing.

Start with the trade-offs that matter

For a useful comparison, check three things on the exact model and regional product page: what each rear camera can do, what battery and charging specifications apply, and how long software updates are promised. Specifications describe hardware and stated commitments; they are not a substitute for controlled camera or battery testing.

Model Camera details Battery and charging Software details
OnePlus 15 Three 50 MP rear cameras; main camera with OIS; 3.5x optical telephoto zoom and 7x “optical quality” zoom. Global specifications list 8K at 30 fps and 4K at up to 120 fps. OnePlus US specifications and global specifications 7,300 mAh non-removable dual-cell battery. The US specifications list 80 W wired SUPERVOOC; the global specifications list 120 W. Both list 50 W AIRVOOC wireless charging. US and global US specifications list OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. The official sources reviewed do not confirm a model-specific support duration. OnePlus 13 Three 50 MP rear cameras; main camera with OIS and EIS; 3x optical telephoto zoom; 120-degree ultra-wide field of view. OnePlus US specifications 6,000 mAh non-removable dual-cell battery; 80 W SUPERVOOC wired and 50 W AIRVOOC wireless charging on the US specification page. OnePlus US specifications US specifications list OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. OnePlus Community material describes four years of Android updates and six years of security updates for this model; that summary does not guarantee specific rollout dates. OnePlus Community
OnePlus 13R The product page highlights a 50 MP Sony LYT-700 main camera with OIS. The cited details do not establish that its complete camera hardware matches the 15 or 13. OnePlus 13R product page 6,000 mAh battery. OnePlus claims up to 24 hours of Netflix playback; this is a company-reported playback figure, not an independent comparison with the other models. OnePlus 13R product page OnePlus Community material describes four years of Android updates and six years of security updates. Check the relevant regional support page for the model’s current details. OnePlus Community

OnePlus’s comparison page currently lists the 13, 13R, 12, 12R, Open and Nord N30 5G in its phone navigation, while the company also has a page for the 15. That navigation is not necessarily a complete list of newly launched models or phones available in every region. Check local availability before treating any lineup as exhaustive. How to compare the cameras

Look at lens roles and stabilization

Start by asking whether the phone has the cameras you will use: a main camera, an ultra-wide camera for broader scenes, and a telephoto camera for distant subjects. Then compare optical zoom and stabilization. Optical zoom refers to the camera’s optical reach; digital or “optical quality” zoom terminology should not be treated as a promise of the same optical performance.

The OnePlus 15 and 13 both list three 50 MP rear cameras, but the 15 lists 3.5x optical telephoto zoom and the 13 lists 3x. The 13’s listed main-camera stabilization includes OIS and EIS, and its ultra-wide camera covers 120 degrees. The 15’s main camera lists OIS. These specifications describe different capabilities, not a ranking of photo quality.

Use video specifications only if they fit your needs

OnePlus’s global 15 specification page lists 8K video at 30 fps and 4K at up to 120 fps. Confirm the regional specifications for the version you intend to buy. A supported recording mode does not by itself establish video quality, stabilization performance or recording limits in every mode.

Do not turn megapixels into a winner

Megapixel totals alone cannot settle differences in image processing, low-light results, moving-subject focus, portrait rendering or video. The cited official specifications do not provide an independent, controlled head-to-head test of the 15, 13 and 13R across those conditions. Choose based on the camera roles and modes that matter to you, and look for independent testing if comparative image quality is the deciding factor.

How to compare battery life and charging

Separate capacity from runtime

OnePlus lists a 7,300 mAh battery for the 15 and 6,000 mAh batteries for both the 13 and 13R. Capacity is a specification, not a direct estimate of screen-on time. Display settings, cellular reception, workload, temperature, software and battery age all affect how long a phone lasts between charges.

Check charging figures for your region

Charging specifications can differ by regional variant. OnePlus lists 80 W wired charging for the 15 on its US page and 120 W on its global page; both pages list 50 W AIRVOOC wireless charging. The US 13 page lists 80 W SUPERVOOC wired and 50 W AIRVOOC wireless charging. Check the exact regional product page and compatible charging equipment rather than assuming one market’s specification applies everywhere.

Treat playback claims as company claims

OnePlus says the 13R supports up to 24 hours of Netflix playback. That is the company’s stated playback claim, not an independent endurance result and not a guarantee of all-day use. It should not be compared directly with a lab test of another phone unless the testing methods and conditions match.

How to check software support

Distinguish the operating-system version a phone ships with from the number of future updates it is promised. The OnePlus 13 US specifications list OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15; the 15 US specifications list OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. A newer starting version does not, by itself, establish a longer support period.

OnePlus’s general Product Security Update Period page states a minimum of three years of security updates for smartphones and tablets after product launch. That is a general baseline, not a full model-specific schedule. Separately, a OnePlus Community policy clarification describes four years of Android updates and six years of security updates for the 13 and 13R. Those durations do not promise a particular update rollout date. OnePlus Product Security Update Period and OnePlus Community

The sources cited here do not confirm the OnePlus 15’s exact model-specific support duration. Before buying, check the support information for the precise model and region rather than carrying the 13-series policy over to another phone.

A practical comparison checklist

  • For photography: identify the lens roles, optical zoom, stabilization, field of view and video modes you actually need.
  • For unplugged use: compare battery capacity, but seek like-for-like independent endurance tests if runtime is the deciding factor.
  • For charging: check wired and wireless specifications on the regional product page and confirm accessory compatibility.
  • For longer ownership: verify the model-specific Android and security-update commitments, and distinguish the stated duration from update timing.
  • For availability: confirm the phone is sold in your region; OnePlus comparison navigation may not show every current model.
